Selection Criteria
For Economics* | Marks obtained by the candidates in Mathematics shall be added to the aggregate marks calculated following the guideline laid down in aggregate marks calculation to arrive at the final score. Students shall be ranked according to their final score out of 500. |
For History, Sanskrit and Sociology | On the basis of aggregate marks obtained in the H.S. / Equivalent Examination. |
For English*, Comparative Literature* | On the basis of a two and a half hour written test for English and a two hour written test for Comparative Literature. |
For Political Science* | On the basis of 1) 50% weightage to the aggregate percentage obtained in H.S. / Equivelant Examination. 2) 50% weightage to the performance in a written test. |
For Bengali* | On the basis of 1) 40% weightage of marks obtained in Bengali & English taken together in H.S./Equivelant Examination. 2) 60% weightage to the performance in a written test. |
For Philosophy* | In accordance with a merit list based on 1) 50% weightage to the aggregate percentage obtained in H.S./Equivelant Examination. 2) 50% weightage to the performance in a written test. |
Candidates who have passed the H.S. or it's equivalent examination (under 10+2 system) through a correspondence course under any recognized Board/Council will be required to sit for a Preliminary Qualifying Test (PQT) for admissions to BA (Honours) in Economics, History, Sanskrit and Sociology.
PQT for Economics, History, Sanskrit and Sociology will be held on 15/6/2016 at 3.00 pm in the respective departments.

*Sports Category
- Selection under the Sports category for a particular subject of study will be made in order of merit on the basis of the Selection Procedure as given above, for all the games/events taken together.
- Eligible candidates under the sports category must separately apply for, and if applicable, appear at the Written Test for each subject as they would like to be considered for.
- Not more than two students will be selected for admission in a particular subject under the sports quota.
*PD Category
- A provisional merit order of eligible candidates will be prepared on the basis of 50% weightage on the academic performance (as per the selection criteria of the concerned department as mentioned above) and 50% weightage on the percentage of disability in the 40%-100% scale (as certified by a competent authority and submitted by the candidate).
- Eligible candidates will have to appear before an expert committee to be constituted by the University to ascertain the nature of their disability and prepare the final merit list in accordance with the equal-weightage on academic performance and degree of disability.
