(2016-17 Session)
Jadavpur University has originated from National Council of Education established by the doyens of the then Bengal intelligentsia. Since 1906 the Council had to intensify its technical education activities through the Bengal Technical Institute later named as the College of Engineering & Technology, Bengal functioning as a National University exclusively under national control. Government of West Bengal with concurrence of the Government of India enacted legislation to give a statutory recognition to the National Council under the name of Jadavpur University on the 24th December, 1955.
The Faculty of Engineering & Technology of Jadavpur University runs -
- 16 (sixteen) B.E. Courses,
- 3 (three) 5-year B.E. (Evening) Degree courses,
- 1 (one) Post B.Sc.-B.Tech. course,
- Twenty Five (25) Post Graduate Courses (M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Pharm./Evening M.E./M.Tech.) and
- M.C.A. course.
All the courses are approved by AICTE.
Jadavpur University was declared, along with four other Universities of India, as the University having ‘Potential for Excellence’. The University has been reaccredited with a CGPA 3.61 on 4 point scale at “A” Grade by NAAC. The University has also applied for NBA accreditation of the Engineering and Technology courses.
ADMISSION INFORMATION
Candidates who are finally alloted by WBJEEB-2016 in Jadavpur University for Admission in Under Graduate Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Pharmacy Courses have to Apply for ONLINE through url www.jaduniv.edu.in before his/her schedule Admission date.

Eligibility :
Candidates must pass Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in General Stream in regular class mode of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognized Council/Board with :- Individual pass mark in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
- Minimum of 60% marks in abov e subjects taken together (45% for SC / ST / PWD / OBC-A / OBC-B candidates) having 60% marks in Mathematics (45% for SC / ST / PWD / OBC-A / OBC-B candidates) as well as pass in English with a minimum of 30% (for all categories of candidates) in the said qualifying examination.

for Architecture course :
Candidates must qualify above mentioned (a) and (b) eligibility criteria along with must qualify either in the NATA (Natinal Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi or in Paper 2 of JEE Mains conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education.
Pass marks in any subject shall imply pass marks in theory and practical individually, as applicable, as specified by the concerned Council/Board. -
Medical Fitness :
Candidates seeking admission to aforesaid Undergraduate Engg. / Tech. / Arch. / Pharm. courses should possess good health and physique with sound mind and should be capable of undergoing N.C.C. Training. They should not have any physical deformity or infirmity and should not be suffering from any disease or illness that might incapacitate him/her in future.
Eye-sight standard :
(a) should not be color blind for admission to Chemical, Civil, Architecture, Pharmacy, Metallurgy and Printing Engineering courses;
(b) allowable defect - myopia or myopic astigmatism with correcting lens not exceeding 8.00. Eye sight standard may be rev ised by the Univ ersity. Medical certif icate is to be taken f rom registered medical practitioners as per Govt. rules.
Note : Medical fitness will not be required for candidates under Persons with Disability quota (PWD). - Candidates must report at Jadavpur University Main Campus one hour before the respective admission time schedule as announced by Jadavpur University.
- Provisional admission will be made after verification of relevant documents.

Admission under SC / ST / OBC-A / OBC-B / PWD / TFW Quota :
- The candidate must have been allotted a seat of Jadavpur University by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board for Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEEB-2016) for Admission to Engineering / Technological / Architecture / Pharmacy Degree Courses.
- The candidate shall have to furnish original and self-attested copies of valid SC / ST / OBC-A / OBC-B / TFW Certificate in his/her name issued by the Government of West Bengal.
- SC / ST / OBC-A / OBC-B / PWD / TFW reserve seat is available only to candidates Domiciled in West Bengal.
- The candidate must report for Physical Reporting and Provisional Admission as per schedule announced by the Jadavpur University.

- Deputy Director, Backward Classes Welfare Directorate, W.B.
- Commissioner, Backward Classes Welfare W.B. – In case the candidate ordinarily resides in any part of West Bengal.
As per Notification no. 374(71)-TW/EC/MR-103/94 dated 27/7/1994, read with memorandum no 1204-SBCW/MR-67/10 dated 27/7/2015 issued by Backward Classes Welfare Department Govt. of W.B., the Sub Divisional Officer of a Sub-Division in a District is certificate issuing authority. In Kolkata such certificate is issued by such an officer as the State Government by modification authorizes. Accordingly, the District Welfare Officer, Kolkata and Ex-officio Joint Director, BCW has been notified to act as the certificate issuing authority in respect of Kolkata covering the jurisdiction of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
PWD Certificates are to be issued by the any of the following authorities :Officer-in-Charge or Medical Head of Primary Health Centre, Block Primary Health Centre, State General Hospitals, Rural Hospitals, Sub-Divisional Hospitals or the District Hospitals run by the State Government or any hospital run by a statutory body or authority.

West Bengal Free Ship Scheme (WBFS) for Economically Backward Meritorious Students :
Eligibility : Students domiciled in the State of West Bengal, whose Annual Family Income is less then Rs. 2.50 lakhs from all sources shall only be eligible for seats under this scheme and the seats must be allotted by WBJEEB-2016.
Competent Authority to issue ‘Income Certificate’ :
For students from rural region –
i) an officer of the State Govt. in the rank of Block Dev elopment Officer,
ii) Sub-Div isional Officer,
iii) Additional District Magistrate,
iv) District Magistrate,
v) Group ‘A’ Gazetted Officer of State or Central Govt. of similar rank or above. -
The candidates will have to produce Original and self-attested copies of the following documents given below at the time of Provisional Admission :
- Print out of System Generated Online Reporting Form.
- Provisional Admission Letter received from the Reporting Centre.
- Admit Card of WBJEEB-2016.
- Admit Card, Mark-sheet and Certificate of Madhyamick Examination (Class – X) or equivalent.
- Mark-sheet and Certificate of H.S. Examination (Class – XII) or equivalent.
- SC / ST / OBC-A / OBC-B / PWD / TFW Certificate in the name of the applicant issued by the Government of West Bengal, if applicable.
- Family Income Certificate of Parent/Guardian from the competent authority.
- 5 (five) copies of passport size photograph will have to be submitted at the counter of the admission desk.

- Allotted students by WBJEEB-2016 in ALL U.G. Engg./Tech./Arch./Pharm courses will have to deposit Rs. 710/- in Cash at the counter of admission desk for Admission as Tuition Fees and other charges for the session 2016-17 & 2017-18 (for two years only) except for the INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY Course.
- Allotted students by WBJEEB-2016 in Information Technology course of J.U. will have to deposit Rs. 25,860/- (for other than TFW Candidates) and Rs. 20,860/- for TFW Candidates (for the session 2016-17) by Demand Draft / Bankers Cheque in favor of “Registrar, Jadavpur University”, payable at Kolkata at the counter for the admission for Tuition Fee and other charges for the session 2016-17 (one year only). Enrolment No., JEE Rank, Name of the Student and allotted course must be written in block letter on the reverse side of the Demand Draft / Bankers Cheque.
- After admission student will have to submit online Anti Ragging Declaration through URL ww.amanmovement.org.com and should submit such print out of declaration to the Muster Roll Section of Jadavpur University after one month from the date of admission, with signature of candidate and his/her guardian.
Note : All J.U. Courses are Non-Residential.
