    General Rules for admission and Flexibility of Programme options::
    • Students are admitted on the basis of rules laid down by the Admission Committee.

    • On the basis of marks obtained in the last public examinations selections are made against a specific number of seats.

    • For Honours courses in Arts minimum 45% marks in aggregate and subject marks in H.S. Examination are considered for the preparation of merit list.

    • For Arts general course, pass mark in HS/CBSE/ICSE/ISC etc is required.

    • In case of Science general course minimum 40% marks is essential in H.S. Examination with Science subjects.


    Common rules : :
    • No application form will be issued beyond the deadline set by the University.

    • Lists of selected applicants are placed in College notice-boards. No individual or concerted solicitation is entertained.

    • Beyond the deadline for admission, there can be no scope for consideration of default cases.

    • For the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PH categories it is essential to produce along with their application forms their SC/ST/OBC/PH certificates issued by the DM/SDO or any other persons approved by the government.

    • It is essential for applicants to submit one attested copy of the Madhyamik Admit Card and Marksheets each of the last examinations passed.

    • In case of any wrong data and in the absence of required papers, especially any anomalies in Madhyamik Admit Card and/or Marksheets, the application would stand cancelled. In the admission process, the decision of the authority is final and binding for all.

    • Admission forms must be submitted in the specific section they are meant for. The forms submitted otherwise are actually invalid.

    • Only those candidates who have passed in the current year, or at least in the past two years will be eligible to apply.

    • For final ranking 2% of the total marks obtained will be deducted against each year of default from the time of application for candidates applying for general stream. In the case of those seeking admission in a Honours course, the same amount of marks will be deducted from the marks obtained in the subject sought for Honours studies here.

    • In a Humanities course the students from the H. S. Vocational stream can opt for subjects which require any mathematical base.

    • In this Institute no external candidate is allowed to appear in the examinations.

    • Following the University of Burdwan rules in any of the 3-year Honours or general degree courses (both Science and Arts) every student has in his/her curriculum compulsory Bengali, English in Part-I of 50 marks each; and in Part-III Environmental Studies of 50 marks as compulsory subject.

    • Admissions are made strictly on the basis of careful consideration formulated by the Admission Committee with the Principal’s approval.

    • After admission, if any change is required to be made by a student with regard to the selection of subject-combination, one can do so following a notice by the Principal/Teacher-in-charge within specified time.

    • Time for the issue and reception of forms in the office is from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M.

Library :-

College has Very Good & well equiped library. There are ample number of books in all subjects are available for both students and teachers. Every year books are purchased as per demands from both teacher and students wings. Students can read within the large and well furnitured library reading room. Some journals covering various aspects of differeent subjects are also purchased regularly on yearly or longterm subscription basis for the enthusiastic people.

Kashipur Michael Madhusudan Mahavidyalaya is situated in a natural and open ambience of a panchaet samity, named Kashipur in the district of Purulia,(W.B.) about 7 km away from Adra Railway Station. It was the 26th day of September, 2000 when the college was established in the name of the great Bengali poet Michael Madhusudan Dutta (1824–1873) who joined as legal advisor of Raja Nilmoni Singhdeo of Panchakote Raj in September, 1872 and then he was appointed as treasurer of the estate. In the year 2000, the college got its initial approval from the University of Burdwan. The college has attained a glorious height in the field of education in the very decade of its establishment. In the year 2000 the college received approval for its degree courses in Humanities by virtue of the efforts of the Government of West Bengal. In the 2005-06 academic session, the college began its journey in Bio-Science stream also. In October, 2003, the college was registered to receive Central assistance in terms of Rules framed under Section- 2 (f) and 12 (B) of the U.G.C. Act, 1956.
