In the present scenario, we would like to focus the Catch Word that â€śthe health is wealthâ€ť, in view of that our Institution offered all the available facilities to the students for them physical fitness, such as a well equipped Gymnasium, or very large playground along with Badminton Court, Volleyball Court, playground for basketball as well. It is a great placement for us to note that we have a separate Physical Education Department (B.P.ED) which is one of the pioneer institute within the State and beyond the state. Our institution provides students health home facilities to the students. So that they can avail free medical facilities partner institution of West Bengal Students health home, Kolkata. A minimum charge of Rs 5/- a year has been collected for this purpose. Many national and state level seminars on health education and physical fitness has been organised for student, these seminars creates general awareness for overall health education. We have hosted now govt. inter colleges sports meet for consecutive 3years. This is also boosted our students to associate with different sports related activities.

The college has at present one Boys hostel and one Girlâ€™s hostel running, which is under one Superintendent & two Asstt. Superintendents. Students have to apply in specified form priced Rs.5/- for seeking admission in the hostel. Students have to pay hostel admission fee, monthly sent rent and electricity charge on regular basis. Students must maintain the rules -and regulations of the hostel.

Our college has three NSS units. The NSS unit officers are presently Prof. Jyoti Mitra-Unit-I , Prof. Alok Kumar Khatua-unit-II and Dr. Sanjib Bhowmick-III.
CELEBRATION OF NATIONAL INTEGRATION DAY AT OUR COLLEGE
NSS units of the college were celebrated National Integration Day. NSS students, teacher, principal and other joined their hands together to form a human chain proclaiming their dedication to the values of national integration.
CELEBRATION OF TEACHERS DAY
The NSS volunteers celebrated the teacherâ€™s day on 5th September each year by presenting Pen and flowers to the teachers.
ORIENTATION PROGRAMME & ONE DAY WORK
A special orientation programme was organized for the first year degree students on 20th September, 2010. The primary aim of the programme was to promote interest in the minds of youngsters to join the NSS .All the participants were properly motivated by Our principal and unit officers. It was followed by cleaning of Mugberia college campus by the NSS volunteers.
ONE DAY WORK
All the NSS volunteers of the institute participated actively in the programme for the removal of plastic wastes from the College premises on 23th September, 2010. After lunch, the volunteers presented various cultural programmes.
SEVEN DAY CAMP
The seven day special camp of NSS units was organized at our college campus during Christmas holidays from 24th December 2010 to 30th December 2010. Volunteers were given a schedule of work during this period on which the cadets performed the following works.
- Cleaning college campus.
- Cleaning the surrounding area of the college,
- Cleaning the market area and nearby villages of our college.
- Cleaning the NSS Gardens
- Fencing of the NSS Garden
- Personality development class
- Environmental awareness class
- Life orientation class
- Sports activities
- Art competitions
- Nature trip
- Child labour problems, AIDS awareness, juvenile crimes etc
The NSS activities which were given above are all performed in college campus and in the adjoining areas of the college so that villagers can participate in the campaign. The objectives and goals of these activities is to fecilitate the all round personality development of the studentsâ€™, training them in team work and organisation and leadership and providing opportunities for developing their creative talents.
Cultural activities were conducted in every evening during NSS Camp.
The NSS units of our college arrange excursion programme in every year. In the last year, the NSS units were went to Digha, Coastal belt of West Bengal for excursion. Around 150 students and programme officers have participated in this excursion.
The NSS units often organized Voluntary Blood Donation Camps (already they have organized three such camps) in collaboration with Contai Blood Bank. In the camp, 33 studentsâ€™ along with some teachers have donated blood in last year 2011.

The Independence Day was observed at the College on 15th of August each year. The Principal Dr. Swapan Kumar Misra was present in the function. The cadets then proceeded to the college grounds to participate in the Independence Day functions. Many of the cadets successfully attended different camps in West Bengal and in other states.
MUGBERIA GANGADHAR MAHAVIDYALAYA was established on 2nd July, 1964 as a co-education college by a Society of the same name in a village in Contai Subdivision of Purba Medinipur District (Erstwhile Midnapore District) after the name of Medinipur's pride - Late Raisaheb Gangadhar Nanda - a great lover of education. It is situated in a very cultural region, and it is the only college in the vast area of Bhagwanpur-II Block. The College was founded on donation collected from the local people to serve the poor habitations of the area, who were unable to send theirwards to distant places for higher education. Noteworthy, some men, enthusiasts in education and social work, took principal initiative in establishing this college. Notable among them are Jyotirmay Nanda, Hrishikesh Gayen, Rammay Nanda, Biswanath Sarangi. Tarapada Maity, Sudhir Kumar Hazra, Rakhal Chandra Sarangi, Nanda Gopal Maity, Bankim Chandra Hazra, Ajit Kumar pari a, Jogesh Chandra Nanda, Jagattaran Tripathy, Sachikanta Nanda, Satis Chandra Manna, Swadesh Gayen, Surendranath Jana, Sitanath Das, Gunadhar Maity and Baneswar Maity. Authorities were mainly dependent on the charity of the people for buying the required land and construction of buildings. For its coming into being, the college greatly owes to Mugberia Gangadhar Trust for a donation of Rs. 15,345/-, and to late Sailajacharan Nanda for giving away a house along with land, where a suitable hostel is constructed recently.
Pandit Jyotirmay Nanda, B.A., Vedantakabyatirtha, Vidyabhusan was in charge of the college as a Secretary for consecutive six years from the beginning ofthe Institution. His efficient administration enabled the College surmounting many difficulties.
The college is grateful to the famous Psychiatrist Dr. Asit Baran Patra and Prof. Gouri Patra for their donation of Rs.3 lac in memory of their father Bhimacharan Patra for construction of the Science Building. Sri Kiranmay Nanda, Hon'ble Minister of the Dept. of Fishery of the State Govt. who is the President of the College is doing his immense in terms of monetary donations & Physical efforts for the development of the college. Moreover, he has taken initative for constructing of an auditorium in memory of his father Jyotirmay Nanda. Again, the college has received Rs.5 lac from the Govt. of Uttar Pradesh under Sri Mulayam Singh Yadav through his endeavour. Presently the boundaries of the Campus have been constructed
With the help of his fund and the co-operation of the locality. An attractive gate was constructed at the entrance of the college with the monetary help from the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college. Several beautiful gardens were made at the initiative of NSS, NCC and the employees of the library. Recently Dr. Nilabja Nayan Sarangi has donated a substantial amount in memory of his mother Late Susama Devi, Smt. Jyotshna Sasmal of Contai town has substantial amount in memory of her husband Late Aurovinda Sasma!. Beside, many well wishers have contributed for the growth of the college.
The college is grateful to Late Prof. Sudhir Giri, the former M.P., for contributing Rs.2 lac from his MPLAD fund. The present M.P. Sri Prasanta Pradhan has donated Rs.7.5Iac from his MPLAD fund for the construction of the 4 Decade Memorial Building. The Zilla Parishad has given away Rs.5lac for the building of the B.P.Ed, section. It has recently granted Rs.1.1 lac for constructing a 'Pay & Use Toilet'.
The Govt. of West Bengal and the UGC are also contributing for the development of this college. Bhagwanpur II Panchayet samiti has arranged for a tubewell in the college campus. Mugberia Gangadhar High School has permitted to use their rooms for the first four years of the college. The college is ever grateful to them.
