Pakuahat Degree College is an Institution dedicated to educational upliftment of rural, backward poor people of topographically Barind area of Malda District. It was established on 04.09.1997 and is recognized by the University Grants Commission. The college renders services of imparting higher education for the amelioration of the backward SC / ST dominated four blocks of Malda district namely Bamongola, Habibpur, Gazole and Old Malda and Tapan Block of Dakshin Dinajpur. The college in its past 11 years of development has left sterling marks of progress by strengthning its students capacity from a miniscule 82 to a significant 1500 pupils.

The college offers B.A. Honours courses in History, Sociology, Bengali, English and Political Science and B.A. General Course in Bengali, English, History, Sociology and Geography. There is a possibility of introduction of Honours Course in Geography, B.Sc. General Course in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany and Zoology. The college has a Geography laboratory and the college Library boasts of more than 5000 books.
