Swami Niswambalananda Girls' College is situated in the southernmost part of the Hooghly District on the bank of Hooghly river in the Municipal area under Uttarpara-Kotrong Municipality. This part of the suburb of Kolkata was widely known for its refined culture and positive contribution to the society through its distinguished personalities consisting of benevolent, educated and socially vibrant zamindars and enthusiastic local gentry. Motivated by these social activists, a section of local energetic people came forward to establish a Girls' College for the upliftment of female folk in view of the mounting social injustice to women. Their concerted endeavour gained momentum and ultimately this Degree College as a centre for female education saw the light on 4th September, 1978 under the umbrella of University of Calcutta.
It is a great pleasure to note that our college has been accredited at C++ level in 2007 by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
