(Symbiosis National Aptitude Test)

A candidate aspiring to join an Symbiosis MBA programme offered by any Institute of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) [SIU] has to appear for the common, mandatory Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP 2023) Computer Based Test (CBT) which will be conducted at Test Centres.

The candidate needs to:
  • Register for SNAP 2023 Test,
  • Pay the registration fee for SNAP entrance exam,
  • Register for her/his choice of PG programme(s) offered by various Institutes of SIU,
  • Pay the registration fee, separately for each programme.
If shortlisted for a programme applied to, the candidate would then need to participate in the further admission process (GE-PI) of that particular programme.

The registration process (including the payment of the registration fee) for SNAP and Institutes is integrated. A candidate can complete the SNAP as well as programme registration and payment on the same portal (snaptest.org).

    + MBA Programmes (and the institute offering them) for which the SNAP 2023 Test is mandatory.

    + PG Programmes (and the institute offering them) for which the SNAP Test is not mandatory

    + Shortlisting and Selection Process - after SNAP 2022 Entrance Test

    Shortlisting for Group Exercise and Personal Interaction (GE-PI):
    A candidate will be shortlisted for further Symbiosis MBA admission process (GE-PI) based on her/his overall SNAP Percentile. Please check the respective Institute website for information and dates of GE-PI.

    The further admission process is conducted separately for each MBA programme by each Institute. The cut-off for shortlisting is also calculated separately for each programme. Based on her/his overall SNAP percentile, a particular candidate may get shortlisted for more than one programme. In such a scenario the candidate is expected to participate in the GE-PI for each programme separately.

    Disclaimer
    It is mandatory to attend all components/tests of GE-PI to be eligible for admission to any PG programme. Only the candidate who attends all components/tests of the selection process (GE- PI) shall be considered as eligible for the generation of merit /wait/reject list. The candidate who remains absent for any one of the components/tests will be considered as ineligible for the selection process of any of the MBA programmes of SIU.

    + Merit List declaration and Admission

    Merit list will be based on the following parameters:

    Category-wise cut off for Merit List and Wait List will be displayed on the website of the respective Institutes. Wait list movement will depend upon the vacant seats available.
    Please note that this admission is provisional and will be confirmed on payment of fees on or before the due date and subject to fulfilment of eligibility conditions of the respective programme(s) and in accordance with the rules of the SIU.

    The candidate is urged to note that no donation or capitation fee is required to be paid for admission to any programme offered by any Institute of SIU. The candidate is cautioned against falling prey to any such assurance / offer by any individual or outside agency.

    SIIB Master of Business Administration (Agri Business) Candidate should be Graduate from any recognised University/ Candidate should be a graduate from any recognised University/ Institution of National Importance and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade (45% marks or equivalent grade for Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes) at graduation.

    A candidate who has completed qualifying qualification from any Foreign University must obtain an equivalence certificate from Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
    SIOM, Nashik Master of Business Administration (Operations Management) Candidate should be an Engineering Graduate (Bachelor of Engineering/ Technology) from any recognised University/ Institution of National Importance and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade (45% marks or equivalent grade for Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes) at graduation.

    Candidates appearing for final year examinations can also apply, but their admission will be subject to obtaining a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade in the qualifying examination.

    A candidate who has completed qualifying qualification from any Foreign University must obtain an equivalence certificate from Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
    SCIT Master of Business Administration (Data Sciences & Data Analytics) Graduate from any recognized University/ Institution of National Importance and with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade (45% marks or equivalent grade for Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribes).

    Candidates appearing for final year examinations can also apply, but their admission will be subject to obtaining a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade in the qualifying examination.

    + Differently Abled Candidates

    Differently Abled Candidates: (3% of seats within the canctioned intake)
    In compliance to Government directives on disability guidelines issued by the office of the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities vide Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, New Delhi notification no. 16-18/97 dated 01st June 2001 and University Grants Commission Notification No. F.6-1/2006 (CPP-II/SCT) dated 30/09/2009, SIU has made provision of reserving 3% seats for Differently Abled Category (DAC) candidates in all the programmes offered by all the Institutes of SIU.

    The types of disabilities covered are:
    1. Vision Impairment
    2. Hearing Impairment
    3. Locomotors Disabilities
    4. Mental Retardation
    5. Multiple Disabilities
    6. Dyslexia
    7. Learning Disability

    A candidate claiming admission under DAC will be provisionally admitted under the said category. Thereafter, the candidate will be required to obtain an ‘Authentication Certificate’.The candidate will have to get the disability certificate authenticated by Medical Board of Symbiosis University Hospital and Research Centre (SUHRC). Once the certificate is found authentic and correct by the Medical Board, SUHRC, his/her eligibility will be certified under the DA category.

    *Differently Abled (DA) candidate means a candidate having any of the disabilities in accordance with the Persons with Disabilities Act – 1995 and as per revised Gazette of India Registered no: DL – (N)04/0007/2003-16 dated December 28,2016. The candidate will have to get the disability certificate authenticated by Medical Board of Symbiosis University Hospital and Research Centre (SUHRC). Once the certificate is found authentic and correct by the Medical Board, SUHRC, his/her eligibility will be certified under the DA category. Process to be followed for Differently Abled Candidates (DAC):
    A Differently Abled category candidate is requested to upload his/her Medical Certificate issued by a competent authority at the time of registration for ascertaining percentage of the disability. The candidate failing to do this will be considered under the Open Category.
    Note: If a candidate selects Differently Abled Category in the Registration form and s/he requires scribe/writer facility please note SIU will not be providing scribe/writer. The candidate has to make her/his own arrangement for scribe/writer. The qualification of scribe/writer should be maximum Class XII passed. Candidate should send the request to info@snaptest.org in case scribe/writer is required.
    During the test, as per SIU Examination norms, a Differently Abled Candidate is provided with 20 minutes of compensatory time for every 60 minutes of test.

    + Defence Category

    Children / Wards of Defence Personal / Defence Special Category:
    Children / Wards of Defence personnel means children/ wards of those Defence Personnel who are serving / retired Defence personnel from Army, Navy, Air Force. Retired Defence personnel are those who fall in the category of ex-servicemen as laid down in Ministry of Defence letter no. 36035/5/85- Est (SCT) dated 14 April 1987. It also includes children of Defence personnel, who died while in service or after retirement.

    The University in terms of the provisions of Memorandum of Association (MoA) between Symbiosis and Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India dated 10th July, 2000 provides for reservations up to the extent of 90% for Master of Business Administration programme of Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS), comprising of 80 % for Children/ Wards of Defence personnel and 10 % for Special Defence Category. The University also provides 5 % reservation within the sanctioned intake for Children/ Wards of Defence Personnel in Constituents as listed below:
    1. Master of Business Administration (International Business) programme conducted by Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB), Pune
    2. Master of Business Administration (Digital and Telecom Management) programme conducted by Symbiosis Institute of Digital & Telecom Management (SIDTM), Pune
    3. Master of Business Administration (Information Technology Business Management) programme conducted by Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology (SCIT), Pune
    4. Master of Business Administration (Information Technology) programme conducted by Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies & Research (SICSR), Pune

    Note: Candidates applying for Children/wards of Defence Personnel other than above mentioned four programmes will be considered as candidates in the OPEN Category.

    Note: A candidate who is interested to apply under the category “Children/ Wards of Defence Personnel” for any of the abovementioned programmes, should select the category “Children/ Wards of Defence Personnel” for each programme separately.

    The definition for Defence Personnel is:
    The term Defence Personnel would mean only those serving / retired Defence personnel from Army, Navy, Air Force. Retired defence personnel are those who fall in the category of ex-servicemen as laid down in Ministry of Defence letter no 36035/5/85- Estt (SCT) dated 14 April 1987.     # For Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS): As per MoU with Ministry of Defence clause no. 13 sub clause (d) The term Defence Personnel would mean only those serving / retired Defence Personnel from the Army, Navy and Air Force who fall in the category of ex-serviceman as laid down vide Ministry of Defence Letter no. 36034/5/85 -Estt (SCT) dated 14th April, 1987.

    Reservation of Seats within the intake is:
    • Defence Category - General: 80% seats for Defence personnel and their dependents (Children / Ward / Spouse) of Defence personnel. (as per merit)
    • Defence category - Special: 10% seats for Defence personnel and their dependents (Children / Ward / Spouse) in consultation with Headquarters, Southern Command should cater for
      a) Killed in action (war, counter insurgency or war like operation)
      b) Disabled in action (war, counter insurgency or war like operation) with more that 50% disability
      c) Next of kin of service personnel who have died while in service, death being attributable to military service (as per merit)
    • Open / Industry Category: 10% seats are in open category to civilian candidates under open or sponsored / recommended by the Industry (as per merit).

    Reservation of Seats over and above intake:
    • Officers of Armed Forces on Study Leave as authorised by respective Services HQs are granted automatic admission subject to meeting eligibility criteria.

    + How to Register

    • SNAP Test 2023 - Registration Process
      • SNAP Test 2023 will be conducted on three different dates. Please note these dates carefully:
        - Date: 10 December 2023 (Sunday)
        - Date: 17 December 2023 (Sunday)
        - Date: 22 December 2023 (Friday)
        Timings of the tests will be communicated to the candidates via their Admit Card
      • A candidate can appear for upto three tests for SNAP 2023. If a candidate appears for more than one test, the higher score will be considered for the final percentile calculation and there will be no normalization. A rigorous process that has been statistically tested will be administered to ensure that unique types of questions are framed under a specific topic across the question papers. The normal spread will ensure that there is no unfair advantage to candidates who opt for any specific test / multiple tests. This will ensure normalisation of the spread of questions across sections. Furthermore, the question papers will be normalised for the level of difficulty across all three tests. No correspondence regarding this will be entertained.
      • Register online on the website snaptest.org (upto November 23, 2023 (Thursday)).
        Note – Any change in the online registration form (except name, date of birth, category, test city preferences and test date) will be entertained only up to November 23, 2023 (Thursday). No change shall be permitted after this date under any circumstances.
      • Ensure that the information you have filled in is accurate.
        No change in name, date of birth, category, test city and test date requests will be entertained once a candidate has paid her/his SNAP Test 2023 registration fee.
      • SNAP Test registration fee and programme registration fee of the Institute is non-refundable and non-transferable.
      • Upload your latest scanned colour passport size photo (in case a candidate is registering for SNAP on a desktop) at the time of online registration for the SNAP Test. (Your photograph should not be more than six months old).
    • SNAP Test Registration Fee Payment Process
      A candidate may pay through

      3. Demand Draft.

      Pay the SNAP Test registration fee of INR 2250 per test (government taxes would be additional as and when applicable) upto November 23, 2023 (Thursday), as per the instructions mentioned on the website for Payment of SNAP Test registration fee.

      NOTE – SNAP Test registration fee and programme registration fee of the Institute is non-refundable and non-transferable.

      PAYMENT THROUGH DEMAND DRAFT:
      Submit a Demand Draft (DD) of INR 2250 per test (government taxes would be additional as and when applicable) from any Nationalized Bank in favour of “Symbiosis Test Secretariat” payable at Pune.

      Choose the mode of Payment as 'DD Payment' in ‘Make Payment’ Tab. Take a print of the payment advice form, fill in the DD Details, sign and send it along with the DD to the Symbiosis Test Secretariat only at,

      The Symbiosis Test Secretariat (STS) will authenticate the details of the Demand Draft and will send you an email confirming the payment. Only after the realisation of payment, would you be able to view your Admit Card.

      Note: All communications with candidate will be done through the official email address info@snaptest.org only. Please ensure that this email address is whitelisted in your registered email. If you do not receive the registration/payment confirmation mail, within 24 hours, please check your spam/junk folder just in case these emails got delivered there instead of your inbox.

      Candidates must declare and maintain a valid and unique email account and a mobile phone number throughout the selection process.


      Instructions:
      • The DD should reach Symbiosis Test Secretariat (STS) by 3:00 pm on November 23, 2023 (Thursday). If the DD reaches after this, it will not be considered and will be returned to the candidate. STS will not be responsible for non-delivery or any delay on the part of courier / postal services.
      • It is also mandatory to pay the registration fee of the desired programme(s) before the closing date of the programme registration fee payment of that/those programme(s). The said fee must be paid through the SNAP website only (snaptest.org) .
      • For disputes between a candidate and the SIU, the candidate should first send an email to registrar@siu.edu.in with details about her/his grievance. If the candidate is not satisfied with the decision of the Registrar, s/he can appeal to the Ombudsman of the University. Information regarding the same is available on https://siu.edu.in/student-affairs.php. All disputes between the candidate and SIU in this regard are subject to the legal jurisdiction of Pune.
      • Any attempt to impersonate or indulge in any malpractice, identified at any stage of the admission process would disqualify the candidate from the admission processes to all PG programmes of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) and may also lead to appropriate legal action as deemed fit.
      • SNAP Test 2023 Score will be valid only for admission to select programmes of SIU for the academic year 2024-25. Admissions to the select programmes at SIU are strictly based on merit, assessment of individual performance in SNAP and other processes prescribed by the University.
      Note – SNAP 2023 result will be declared on January 10, 2024 (Wednesday), on snaptest.org and will be available till February 09, 2024 (Friday).
    • MBA Programmes (and the institute offering them) for which SNAP Test is mandatory
    • Programmes (and the institute offering them) for which SNAP Test is not mandatory
    • Programme Registration Fee Payment Process
      A candidate aspiring to join an MBA programme offered by any Institute of SIU is also required to register as well as pay the registration fee of her/his desired programme(s) before the closing date of programme registration fee payment of that/those programme(s). The fee must be paid only through the SNAP website (snaptest.org) . This is in addition to registering for and paying the registration fee for the SNAP Test.

      The programme registration fee is INR 1000 for each programme (government taxes would be additional as and when applicable). If a candidate wishes to apply to more than one programme, s/he will have to pay an additional INR 1000 for each additional programme applied to (government taxes would be additional as and when applicable).

      Note - Symbiosis Institute programme registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

      If a candidate wants to pay the programme registration fee through Demand Draft, s/he should make a Demand Draft of INR 1000 for each programme (government taxes would be additional as and when applicable). The rest of the process is the same as that for SNAP Test 2023 (Payment Through Demand Draft).

      Note
      Even after the closing date of SNAP test registration fee payment, a candidate may still pay the programme(s) registration fee through SNAP website till the closing date of the respective programme(s).

      An Institute may offer more than one programme. Candidate should ensure that the preferred programme(s) is are selected and the programme registration fee is paid for before the closing date.

      Different programmes may have different closing date for programme registration fee payment. A candidate should visit the website of the concerned Institute(s) to check the same.

    + Important Dates

    **Depending on any unavoidable circumstances, the schedules, as well as the nature/structure of the test, can change, and all tests can be conducted entirely online or entirely offline or in a combination of both modes at the discretion of SIU.

    No request for a change of test date or test city will be entertained once a candidate has paid the SNAP Test registration fee. Test City and Test Date are allocated on a first come, first serve basis. The earlier you pay, the higher are your chances to obtain a test date and test city of your choice. The Test Timing, Test Centre and its address will be printed on the Admit Card. (The Admit Card will be live on the SNAP website snaptest.org)

    SIU reserves the right to change or allot a city other than the one requested by the candidate if the requested city is not available for any reason.

    While all efforts will be made to ensure that a candidate gets a test city as per her/his preferences, however, in some exceptional circumstances, a different test city in a nearby area may be allotted. Computer-based testing is a proven and reliable process administered to tens of millions of people yearly. As with paper and pencil testing, or virtually every other human endeavour, many problems could occur that might prevent a test from being delivered and/or a result from being generated. In the unlikely event this does occur, every effort will be made to correct the problem, up to and including the administration of another test.

    • SNAP TEST 2023 timing’s will be available on the Admit Card
    • SNAP Test is an objective test. Each question has four responses. The candidate should choose an appropriate response.
    • Each wrong answer attracts 25% negative marks.
    • A candidate can appear for upto three tests for SNAP. If a candidate appears for more than one test, the higher score will be considered for the final percentile calculation and there will be no normalization. A rigorous process that has been statistically tested will be administered to ensure that unique types of questions are framed under a specific topic across the question papers. Normal spread will ensure that there is no unfair advantage to candidates who opt for any specific test / multiple tests. This will ensure normalisation of the spread of questions across sections.     • Any malpractice / use of unfair means will lead to your disqualification from the admission process of SIU. Instances of any incorrect information or process violation detected at any stage of the selection process will lead to immediate disqualification of the candidate from the selection process and he/she will not be allowed to appear for SNAP in the future. If such instances go undetected during the current selection process but are detected in subsequent years, such disqualification will take place with retrospective effect.

    The Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE) is a department of the University, providing leadership & support for the University's efforts to internationalise the campus and the curricula. The admissions international students are centralized for all the Institutes of Symbiosis International University (SIU) and routed through SCIE. The online admission facility has made it possible for a candidate to apply from any part of the world from the comfort of his/her home

    International Student Category:
    Foreign National (FN):
    A candidate is eligible to apply as a Foreign National (FN) if she/he is a citizen of any country other than India and holds a foreign passport.

    Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI):
    A candidate is eligible to apply as OCI if she/he is granted with Overseas Citizenship of India and has an OCI card.

    Person of Indian Origin (PIO):
    A candidate is eligible to apply as a Person of Indian Origin (PIO) if she/he has a PIO card, and is a citizen of a country other than India. [As per the Government of India Notification dated 9th January 2015, the existing Persons of Indian Origin card holder registered as such shall be deemed to be Overseas Citizens of India card holders (OCI).]

    Non-Resident Indian (NRI):
    A candidate is eligible to apply as a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) if she/he is an Indian National and has appeared for the 12th examination (equivalent to the Indian 12th) or graduation outside India. It is mandatory for one of the two qualifying examinations to be taken outside India.

    An NRI candidate (graduated from a recognised university-Indian/Foreign) after having applied for SNAP Test has the option of consideration of her/his candidature as national student or under NRI category. In case an NRI candidate chooses to apply under NRI category, s/he will have to further register and apply through Symbiosis Centre for International Education.     Important:
    1) Foreign National candidate can apply through SCIE
    2) Foreign National / Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI)/ Person of Indian Origin (PIO) candidate exempted from the entrance test. She/he has to appear for English Proficiency Test.
