West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) will conduct OMR based common entrance test (PUBDET-2024) for admission to Undergraduate Courses in three-year B.A./B.Sc. (Honours) courses in the Presidency University for the academic session of 2024-25.

Tentative Date of examination:
27th & 28th July 2024 (Saturday & Sunday).

    No further Test shall be conducted under any circumstances for those who are unable to appear on the date and time of PUBDET-2024 mentioned above.

    + Eligibility and Academic Qualification Criteria

    Eligibility criteria for application
    Applicant must be a passed out from schools in India affiliated to International Board in compliance with Sec. 3.2 (c)/National or State level examination Board or Council.

    Eligibility criteria for admission
    • Candidates must have passed (not before 2023) OR appeared (in 2024) in the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2 system) conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any equivalent examination.
    • Candidate must pass any of the aforementioned examinations, with at least five recognized subjects (full marks not less than 100) of which English will be one subject and excluding Compulsory Environmental Science. The aggregate is to be calculated considering score in best four recognized subjects excluding Compulsory Environmental Science.
    • Candidates with International ‘A’ level or International Baccalaureate qualifications must have at least three subjects at the IGCSE level and three subjects at the ‘A’ level, with English in either of the two levels. Aggregate is to be calculated considering the best four subjects considering both the levels.
    • The candidate must fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria as per the following table in his/her qualifying examination in 12th standard. SC/ST, OBC-A/OBCB and PwD candidates will get 25%, 10% and 5% relaxation in required minimum aggregate score in 12th standard respectively.

    Important information regarding eligibility
    WBJEEB do neither verify the information provided by any candidate during on line application nor verify any certificate of date of birth, domicile, income, reservation category, academic qualification etc. for deciding the eligibility of the candidate. Admit cards are issued only on the basis of the information provided by the candidate. Also, normally there is no scope of correction/change of any information after the final submission of online application.

    Every admission is provisional subject to verification of documents. Verifications are to be done during counselling and subsequent admission and registration with the university. If at any stage after examination it is found on scrutiny that the applicant is otherwise ineligible, his/her candidature shall be treated as cancelled even if he/she secured a Merit Rank in the PUBDET-2024 and/or a seat has been allotted to the candidate.

    Hence, securing a Rank in the PUBDET-2024 does not constitute a right/guarantee in favour of a candidate for his/her claim for admission if he/she fails to comply with the specified norms and standards.

    * The Seat Matrix will be revised in order to accommodate the reservation for EWS candidates as per GO no: 339-Edn (CS)/OM-74L/2023 dated 26th May, 2023.

    NB: Reservation for PWD candidates will be as per the extant Govt. order.

    + Payment of Examination Fees

    • The Examination Fees can be paid by Net Banking / Debit Card / Credit Card / UPI / QR Code only.
    • Application fees for PUBDET-2024 is Rs. 500 (Rupees five hundred only) for one paper and rs. 250 for each additional paper, plus the Bank’s Service Charges, if any.
    • The fee once paid is not refundable under any circumstances.

    + Allocation of Examination Centre

    • During on line application, the candidate has to choose any 2 (two) of the following examination zones.

    • Allocation of examination centre will be based on the choices of zones given by the candidate. However, under unavoidable circumstances, any candidates may be allocated in a zone out of his/her choice. Discretion of the Board in allocation of examination zone/centre shall be final. No request for change of allocated centre will be entertained under any circumstances.
    • Any examination zone may be dropped if adequate numbers of candidates are not available or under any unavoidable circumstance. In such case the candidate will be allocated alternative examination zone.

    + Rules of the Examination

    • Candidates are advised to reach the examination centers at least 30 minutes before commencement of the test.
    • Be sure about the exact location of your examination center and means of commuting to avoid any inconvenience, if any, on the day of examination.
    • No candidate will be allowed to seat for the test in any center other than the one allotted to him/her and as is mentioned in the admit card.
    • Any candidate found to occupy a seat other than the one allotted to him/her will be reported against and his/her paper will be cancelled.
    • Carry the following documents to enter the examination center:
      • A printed copy of admit card.
      • A copy of color photograph as was uploaded during online application.
      • Any photo identity card in original such as Aadhaar card / Pan card / Passport / voter card / 10th standard admit card / School-ID card.
    • Candidates are not allowed to carry any written or printed material, calculator, pen, log table, wristwatch, any communication device like mobile phones, any blue tooth device etc. inside the examination hall. Any candidate found with such items will be reported against and his/her candidature will be summarily cancelled.
    • Frisking may be carried out while entering the center for checking prohibited objects/articles.
    • Candidates are advised to take their seats at least 15 minutes before commencement of the test.
    • No candidate will be allowed to enter the examination center beyond the scheduled time of commencement of the test for each half under any circumstances.
    • Question booklets will be distributed well before commencement of the test. Take out the OMR sheet and check that your OMR number and question booklet number are same. If not, ask the invigilator to replace the whole set from same series (e.g., A/B/C/D).
    • Put your signature on the top of question booklet.
    • Read the instructions given on OMR and on the cover page of question booklet very carefully.
    • Write question booklet number and roll number at the appropriate places on the OMR. Wrong entry of question booklet number and roll number may lead to rejection of the OMR or wrong scoring, for which the Board will not be held responsible. If any candidate makes any mistake, he/she must not overwrite. Request the invigilator to strike it out and rewrite the correct numbers and put his/her (Invigilator) signature.
    • Darken the appropriate circle/bubbles of question booklet number, roll number and question booklet series (e.g., A/B/C/D).
    • Write your name in BLOCK LETTERS, name of the center and put your signature in appropriate places on the OMR. Do not put any stray mark anywhere else; it may lead to rejection of OMR.
    • Check that your roll number, photograph, spelling of your name in the attendance sheet matches with those given in your admit card. If any correction is needed, bring it to the notice of the invigilator.
    • Question booklets can be opened only at the time of commencement of test and as will be announced by the invigilator. Check all the pages of question booklet. If there is any damage or missing page or any difficulties to read the question booklet, ask your invigilator to replace the whole set from the same series (e.g., A/B/C/D).
    • Maintain silence during the test. Any conversation/gesticulation or creation of disturbances will be deemed as misdemeanor. If any candidate is found adopting any unfair means, his/her candidature will be cancelled, and / or he/she will be debarred either permanently or for a period as is deemed fit by the Centre- in- Charge.
    • No discussion will be allowed with the invigilator regarding any question.
    • Candidates may do rough work in the space provided in the question booklet.
    • No candidate will leave his/her seat without permission of the invigilator until the test is over.
    • No candidate will leave the hall till the end of the test and all OMRs are collected and tallied by the invigilator.
    • Candidates are allowed to take his/her question booklet after the test.
    • If any examinee is found impersonating, he/she will be handed over to the police and candidature of the original candidate will be cancelled outright.
