Eligibility criteria for receiving forms for General Courses

  • Candidates who have passed the examination at the 10 + 2 level (Higher Secondary or its equivalent) are eligible to seek admission to the 1st of the six semesters (in 3 years) B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. (Honours/General) courses provided he/she has also passed in English (paper having full marks not less than 100)
  • Aggregate marks shall be calculated by adding the marks in best four subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate. Marks in compulsory Environmental Education/Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. However, if the subject “Environmental Science” is studied as an elective subject of 100 marks, it may be taken into account for the purpose of determining the aggregate marks.
  • Applicants for all B.A./ B.Sc. courses (Honours and General) must take two Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses:
    AECC-1: Communicative English / Bengali
    AECC-2: Environmental Studies
  • For candidates seeking admission to the B.A. General course, the Language Compulsory Courses are as follows:
    LCC-1: English
    LCC-2: Bengali / Alternative English
  • In papers at the 10 + 2 level which contain a theory part and a practical part, the candidates are required to pass the two parts separately as well as the paper as a whole.

Criteria for reserved candidates

  • Reservation of seats will be guided by the rules of the Government of West Bengal.
  • A reserved candidate seeking admission to an Honours course will require at least 40% in aggregate or 40% in that subject.
  • A reserved candidate seeking admission to a B.A/B.Sc. General course will require to pass the examination at the 10 + 2 level with the general subjects or related subjects.
  • A reserved candidate seeking admission to the B. Com. General course will require to pass the examination at the 10+2 level with Accountancy / Business Studies / BEBM / Mathematics / Economics / Commerce.
