Master Degree (PG) Programme
Session: 2019-2020

Admission to Master Degree Programmes for the session 2019-2020

Online applications are invited from Indian citizens only for admission to Master Degree and Doctoral Degree programmes. The admission will be done through an entrance examination to be held on 06/07/2019 and 13/07/2019 respectively at the University campus at Mohanpur, Nadia. The Syllabus for both the programmes has been displayed on the University website (www.bckv.edu.in) separately.

All the Master’s Degree seats, excepting the ICAR seats will be filled up in the following manner:
  • Eighty percent (80%) of the seat in each department of the general category which may be rounded off to nearer absolute number will be reserved for domicile candidates of West Bengal that will be filled up on the basis of merit list.
  • Twenty percent (20%) seats of the general category in each department which may be rounded off to nearer absolute number will be filled up on the basis of merit list considering both domicile and non-domicile candidates. No benefit of reservation will be extended to the non-domicile candidates.
  • In case the seat has fallen vacant due to non-availability of domicile candidates, it will be filled up by the non-domicile candidates on the basis of merit list.

ICAR’s nominees will be considered as per prevailing rules.
For Entrance Examination of Master Degree Programme of the Faculty of Agriculture, a candidate at best may apply to Group-I, Group-III and any one module of Group-II; Separate examinations will be conducted for all the groups mentioned below.

Only one Common Entrance Examination will be conducted for the Faculty of Horticulture and also for Agricultural engineering for admission to its different departments.

Entrance examination will be based on multiple choice questions. There will be deduction of one (1) mark for four (4) wrong answers. All questions carry equal mark.

Merit list will be prepared according to the following weightage:

    ELIGIBILITY (Master Degree)
    Candidates must have passed the 4-year Bachelor Degree examination in Agriculture/ Horticulture/Agricultural Engineering. General and OBC candidates must secure Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of at least 6.50/10.00 in ten-point scale, whereas for SC/ST candidates the said requirement is at least 5.50/10.00 in ten-point scale. In traditional system where grade-points are not awarded, the General and OBC category candidates must have secured at least 60% marks for, whereas for SC/ST categories the requirement is at least 50% marks.

    The graduates of some other disciplines of Engineering are also eligible to apply in the respective departments, i.e. 1) Civil Engineering for the Dept. of Soil & Water Engineering, 2) Mechanical Engineering for the Dept. of Farm Machinery & Power, 3) Chemical/ Biochemical Engineering for the Dept. of Food Engineering.

    Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary or equivalent examination (10+2) in General stream or Vocational stream securing at least 50% marks in aggregate for General and OBC categories, whereas for the candidate under SC/ST categories the said requirement is at least 40%.

    However, for M.Tech. admission, minimum marks accepted by WBJEE Board for admission to B. Tech. will be considered.

    Candidates appeared in the final semester of under-graduate programme are also eligible to apply.

    All the candidates are required to submit the photocopy of all the transcripts at the time of counselling for admission.
