Enrolment to Ph.D. Programme in Bengali Language & Literature
Session: 2019-2020
  • Applications are invited from suitable candidates for the Ph.D. Programme in Bengali Language & Literature, University of Calcutta, for the session 2019-2020.
  • Admissions will be made on the basis of a written test, of two hours duration followed by an interview. Candidates with NET/SET/M.Phil. are not required to appear in the written test but need to appear in the interview.
  • The candidates should download the 'application form' from the university website for the admission test and interview and submit the same along with the payment receipt of application fee of Rs. 100/- to the department. (12:00 Noon to 4:00 P.M.).
  • The last date of submission of application forms is 17th June, 2019.
  • Number of seats for the Ph.D. Programme for 2019-2020 is 06 (Six).
  • Reservation of SC/ST/PH/OBC etc will be as per 100 points roster applicable as per the rules of the "West Bengal Higher Education Institutions (reservation in admission) rules, 2013".
  • Date and time of Written Test – 25th June, 2019 at 2:00 P.M.
  • Written test will be held on the following basis:
    • MCQ - History of Bengali Language & Literature (20 Questions 1 Marks each, Negative marking will be applicable)
    • Short answer type questions - Research Methodology, Bengali Language & Literature (6 Questions 5 Marks each)
    • One Essay -Bengali Language & Literature (20 Marks)
  • Candidates must obtain qualifying marks is 50% for General category and 45% for SC/ST Category to qualify for interview.
  • The result of written test will be put up on the notice board of the department on 10th July, 2019.
  • The interview of the candidates comprised of applicants with NET/SET/M.Phil and qualified candidates in the Written Test will be held on 16th and 17th May, 2019 from 12:00 Noon in the Department.
  • The list of qualified candidates for the enrolment to the Ph.D Programme for the session 2019-20 may be published on the Departmental Notice Board in 26th July, 2019.
