Last Date for submission of online application 18/06/2019.

Last Date submission of application fees through SBI I-Collect System (using Net Banking / Credit Card / Debit Card) is 21/06/2019. Enter the date of borth in ddmmyyyy format in SBI server. After payment through online please print the e-receipt for further reference.

Students who want to apply for hostel accommodation are advised to submit duly filled-in application form for hostel boardership along with attachment as mentioned in the application form (address proof, income certificate issued by the authority mentioned in the application form) on the day of admission. Hostel Bordership Application Form will also be available on the day of admission. No hostel bordership application form (filled-in) will be accepted after the day of admission.     + Eligibility Criteria

    • Do not visit the university offices for admission details. All information related to admission procedures is available on this website.
    • An applicant must have completed results at the 10+2 level at the time of application.
    • Incomplete and/or incorrect application shall be liable to be cancelled.
    • For a candidate selected provisionally for admission, if it is found at the time of admissions that the marks he/she had stated at the time of application is more than what he/she has actually obtained (as in his/her mark-sheets), then his/her merit position shall be revised accordingly and he/she may be denied admission.
    • Following eligibility and selection procedures are applicable only for students who have completed school (10+2) in India. Foreign students or others who have completed schools (10+2) outside India must check Foreign Students Admission at http://www.jaduniv.edu.in/foreign_student.php for application procedure, eligibility and other criteria.
    • CBCS as per UGC guideline will be implemented in B.Sc. (Hons.) courses from the academic session 2017- 2018.
    • Maximum tenure of studentship for the admitted candidates will be as per the UGC circular no- F.12-1/2015(CPP-II).
    Eligibility Criteria For B.Sc (Honours) Courses
    For Physics, Chemistry & Geological Science Candidates having passed 10+2 Examination from any recognized Board in Science with Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and securing at least 75% marks in average obtained in Chemistry, Mathematics & Physics are eligible.

    In case of OBC-A/OBC-B category, minimum requirement of marks is 67.5% in average obtained in the above mentioned three(3) subjects.

    In case of SC/ST/PD/Sports category, minimum requirement of marks is 56.25% in average obtained in the above mentioned three(3) subjects. The minimum disability in case of the PD candidates is 40%.
    For Mathematics Candidates having passed 10+2 Examination from any recognized Board in Science with Mathematics and best of any two subjects from Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Statistics & Geography and securing at least 75% marks in average obtained in above mentioned three(3) subjects are eligible.

    In case of OBC-A/OBC-B category, minimum requirement of marks is 67.5% in average obtained in the above mentioned three(3) subjects.

    In case of SC/ST/PD/Sports category, minimum requirement of marks is 56.25% in average obtained in the above mentioned three(3) subjects. The minimum disability in case of the PD candidates is 40%.
    For Geography Candidates having passed 10+2 Examination from any recognized Board in Science with Mathematics and any two subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Geology & Economics, securing at least 70% marks in average obtained in above mentioned three(3) subjects are eligible.

    In case of OBC-A/OBC-B category, minimum requirement of marks is 63% in average obtained in above mentioned three(3) subjects.

    In case of SC/ST/PD/Sports category, minimum requirement of marks is 52.5% in average obtained in in above mentioned three(3) subjects. The minimum disability in case of the PD candidates is 40%.
    **NOTE : A student who has obtained the Bachelor Degree from a recognized University is not eligible for admission to the Bachelor Degree course of this University.
    • SC/ST CATEGORY
      As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89-SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and letter No.1510-SCW dt.31/05/2007 from the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes of the States other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in Educational Institutions in West Bengal.

      Candidates provisionally selected under this category will have to submit the SC/ST certificate in their name at the time of admission, otherwise his/her admission may be denied.
    • OBC-A/OBC-B CATEGORY
      The candidates who will be provisionally selected under the OBC-A and OBC-B categories must produce an OBC certificate (the date of issue of the certificate should not be earlier than June 2018) issued by the competent authority that clearly indicates (i) the category (A or B) they belong to; (ii) that they do not belong to creamy layer of the society, at the time of counselling/admission.

      If any candidate could not produce the non-creamy layer certificate at the time of admission, a ten (10) days time at the most will be given to the candidate to produce the same. otherwise his/her admission may be denied.

      OBC-A and OBC-B candidates from the States other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in Educational Institutions in West Bengal. Such students may get the benefit of reserve quota if they have domicile certificate of 10 years residency in West Bengal.
    • *FOR SPORTS CATEGORY
      In addition to the above mentioned academic eligibility, the following eligibility conditions under Sports Quota shall apply:
      Candidate should have represented a state or equivalent in any National Championship (Junior/Senior/Federation Cup) or above conducted under the aegis of respective Federation/Association recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports / Indian Olympic Association
      OR
      Candidate should have represented state in National School Competition conducted by School Games Federation of India (SGFI)
      OR
      Candidate having position 1st/2nd/3rd for individual event/sports or member of Champion / Runners up team for team event/sports/games in Inter-Dist / State Championship (open) or above conducted under the aegis of respective Federation/ Association recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports / Indian Olympic Association in the sports and games offered by the A.I.U, with percentage of marks specified above is eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota.

      For chess, applicant having the FIDE rating (standard) 1700 and above for Boys and FIDE rating (standard) 1300 and above for girls is eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota.
      For Tennis, applicant having the AITA ranking up to 300 for under 18 years boys/girls or ranking up to 500 for open (Men/Women) category is eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota. The rating/ranking for chess & tennis is applicable on the day / week of publication of advertisement for admission under sports quota.
      For Cricket & Football, applicant must have represented any 1st Division Club or above with participation of 40% matches either in the current year or any one of the two preceding years organized by either CAB / IFA or any State Association OR having the criteria as specified in for UG Level.

      Such sports representations are to be made within current year or any one of the two preceding calendar years (i,e commencing from 1st January) only.

      Certificates of participation (Click here for format) in Sports/Games must be obtained from the competent authorities. Applicant must submit the certificates in prescribed format along with a print out of online payment receipt, print out of online application and all Sports Certificate to the Office of the Dean and the Secretary, Faculty Council of Science, U.G. Science Building, Ground Floor, Jadavpur University, Kolkata 700032, on or before June 21, 2019 (11:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.).

      Participants in Tournaments/Events organized or certified by bodies other than those mentioned above are not eligible.
    • ** FOR PD CATEGORY
      Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under PD quota under PWD (Equal Opportunity, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 2016.

      Candidates applied under this category must submit an attested photocopy of certificate of disability issued by the relevant authority either in person (or by post) along with a photocopy of online payment receipt within June 21, 2019 (5pm) in the Office of the Dean and Secretary, Faculty Council of Science, Ground Floor, UG Science Building, Jadavpur University, Kolkata - 700032.
    Anti-Ragging:
    Jadavpur University has accepted in principle that each and every student of the University shall be duty bound during the entire period of studentship with the University to immediately report to the Dean of Students if any ragging is noticed either in University hostel or on University campus.

    If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the Authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his explanation is not found satisfactory, the Authority would expel him/her from the University.

    + Selection Procedure

    Admission be made strictly according to the marks obtained in the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination. There will be no Admission Test.

    Incomplete application in any respect will be summarily rejected.

    Merit lists of the candidates to be called for interview for Honours in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Geological Sciences and Geography will be prepared as follows. Subject weightage to the candidates opting for Honours in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics will be given as follows:
    For PHYSICS : Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics (300 marks) + Physics (100 marks): (Score out of 400)
    For CHEMISTRY : Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics (300 marks) + Chemistry (100 marks): (Score out of 400)
    For MATHEMATICS : Mathematics and best of any two subjects from Chemistry / Physics / Computer Science / Statistics /Geography (300 marks) + Mathemitics (100 marks): (Score out of 400)
    For GEOLOGICAL SCIENCES : Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics (300 marks): (Score out of 300)
    For GEOGRAPHY : Mathematics and any two subjects from Chemistry / Physics / Geography / Geology / Economics (300 marks): (Score out of 300)
    In case of bunching of marks in the merit lists for admission of the last candidate the selection be made as per the following criteria:
    For PHYSICS : In case of bunching of total marks in the merit list at first the marks of Physics at +2 level be considered. Even if there is a further bunching of marks of Physics at +2 level, the marks of Mathematics at +2 level be considered. Even if there is a further bunching, the total marks obtained in best of 4 subjects at +2 level be considered.
    For CHEMISTRY : In case of bunching of total marks in the merit list at first the marks of Chemistry at +2 level be considered. Even if there is a further bunching of marks of Chemistry at +2 level, the marks of Mathematics at +2 level be considered. Even if there is a further bunching, the total marks obtained in best of 4 subjects at +2 level be considered.
    For MATHEMATICS : In case of bunching of total marks in the merit list at first the marks of Mathematics at +2 level be considered. Even if there is a further bunching of marks of Mathematics at +2 level, the total marks obtained in best of 4 subjects at +2 level be considered.
    For GEOLOGICAL SCIENCES : In case bunching of total marks in the merit list at first the marks of Mathematics at +2 level be considered. Even if there is a further bunching of marks of Mathematics at +2 level, the marks of Physics at + 2 level be considered. Again if there is a bunching of marks of Physics at + 2 level the marks of Chemistry at +2 level be considered. Even if there is a further bunching, the total marks obtained in best of 4 subjects at +2 level be considered.
    For GEOGRAPHY : In case bunching of total marks in the merit list the marks of Mathematics at +2 level be considered. Even if there is a further bunching of marks of Mathematics at +2 level, the total marks obtained in best of 4 subjects at +2 level be considered.
