Applications are invited for admission provisionally to the 1st Semester Post Graduate Course in Zoology from the 3 year B.Sc. Honours graduates of University of Calcutta and other Universities graduating (regular course) not earlier than 2014. Application form can be obtained from our college website on and from 12th August to 18th August 2014. Complete filled in application form along with photographs attached to the space provided and Xerox copies of necessary documents should be submitted in the Department of Zoology positively by 19th August between 12 noon and 2:30 pm (except 15th, 16th and 17thAugust 2014). It is customary to pay an amount of Rupees 100/- as the cost of form at the cash counter of the college office before the submission of filled up form in the Department of Zoology.

Total Number of seats: 20

60% of the approved seats (GEN-7, SC-2, ST-1, OBC A- 1, OBC B-1) will be filled up directly in order of merit based on marks in Honours subject obtained by the candidates from the University of Calcutta in 3 year Honours Examination, 2014.

Rest 40% of seats (GEN-5, SC-2, ST-0, OBC A-1, OBC B-0) be made available for both Non-CU candidates as well as those CU candidates who could not enroll themselves for the first 60% seats. In this case, selection will be made through a written test (MCQ).

Cut off marks (as eligibility) for receiving applications:
General: At least 55% marks, OBC-A and OBC-B: At least 50% marks in the Honours subject.

Reservation of seats of SC/ST, OBC-A/OBC-B according to existing Government rules is to be followed in both of the above mentioned categories.

The candidates of reserved category (SC/ST) passed out from the University of Calcutta or from other Universities must secure a minimum of 45% of marks in the Honours subject and also should have the marks in Honours subject which are not lower by more than 25% of the marks obtained by the last candidate selected for admission in the merit list of the General category. OBC-A and OBC-B candidates getting admission should have obtained in the previous examination, qualifying marks not lower by more than 10% from the marks obtained by the last candidate selected for admission in the merit list of the general category.

Xerox copy (s) of the caste/tribe/class identification certificate along with the monthly family income certificate issued by the Competent Authority should be submitted at the time of submission of properly filled in application form.

Candidates falling under 60% category will be called for counseling followed by necessary admission. Such candidates are supposed to take admission on the date of counseling. Strict adherence to the date of counseling/ admission is a binding to the candidate. Candidates falling under 40% category are supposed to appear in the Entrance Test.

Entrance Test will be of one hour duration having full marks- 100 [50 questions (MCQ) each of 2 marks]. There will be negative marking. One mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. Zero credit will be given for non-attempted MCQ. Negative marking will also be implied for multiple attempts for a question.
