Applications are invited for the admission to the M.A. Programme in English and Political Science for the session 2015-2017 within 2nd July, 2015. The number of seats for English is 47 (inclusive of all reserved categories) and for Political Science 18 (inclusive of all reserved categories)

Eligibility :
Any candidate who has passed B.A. (Hons.) Examination in English and Political Science with 40% marks in aggregate is eligible to apply to the M.A. Programme. Students, likely to complete B.A. Part- III(Hons.) Examination in English and Political Science by June 30, 2015, are also eligible to apply. Their admission will be provisional subject to satisfying minimum eligibility criterion by August 31, 2015. Selection will be on the basis of an entrance test for English and merit list for Political Science. All the candidates applying for English must note that 40% weightage will be given to the total marks scored in Part I and Part II Honours examination only and 60 % weightage will be given on the marks scored in entrance examination. For candidates applying for Political Science the merit list will be based on the total marks scored in Part I and Part II Hons. examination only. The candidates found eligible through entrance test for English or merit list for Political Science will be admitted on the basis of counselling. The list of finally selected candidates will be published in the College web-site and departmental notice board.

Form :
The prescribed application form for admission to M.A. Courses 2015-2017 can be purchased from office of the postgraduate section (1st floor) on payment of Rs. 300/- only in cash and production of the original marksheet of Part I / II / III examination

Filled up application forms must be accompanied by a demand draft of Rs. 300/- only in favour of "Basanti Devi College, Postgraduate Account" payable at "Kolkata" at the time of submission.

Collection of admission forms : 11:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M.
Submission of admission forms : 2:30 P.M. - 4:00 P.M.

Reservation :
For S.C., S.T., OBC-A, OBC-B and Physically Challenged candidate will be made as per University / Govt. Rules.
For SC/ST : 22% and 6% respectively of the total seats of the concerned subject.
N.B. : For SC/ST candidates should submit SC/ST certificate issued as per the West Bengal SC/ST (Identification) Act 1994.
For SC/ST : 22% and 6% respectively of the total seats concerned

For Person with Disability :
Reservation of 3% seats for Physically Challenged Candidate within each respective category (SC/ST,OBC-A, OBC-B/unreserved of the concerned subject.)
N.B. : Physically Challenged candidates having degree of 40% and above should submit a certificate issued by the relevant Govt. Hospital.

For OBC-A/OBC-B :
Implementation of reservation shall take effect from the Academic Session 2015-2016 as per W.B. Govt. Rules in a Phase-wise manner as given in relevant G.O,s and decided by the C.U. Syndicate.

Course Fees :
Rupees Twenty Eight Thousand and Four Hundred only (Rs. 28,400/-) (per year) in cash is to be paid by the selected candidates at the time of admission.
