Reservation Rules 2016

The following points are to be considered for reservation of seats during admission to undergraduate 1st Semester class.

• Seats reserved for SC candidates – 22%
• Seats reserved for ST candidates – 06%
• Seats reserved for OBC-A candidates – 10% *
• Seats reserved for OBC-B candidates – 07% *

* N.B. : The reservation of OBC-A and OBC-B candidates can be completed within academic year 2019-20 in a staggered manner taking into account that the total number of unreserved seats is not less than the seats available immediately preceding the date of the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act 2013 i.e. 30-04-2013.

This reservation is in accordance with G.O No ED-437/2014 dt 02-04-14 read with G.O. No. 65-Edn (U)/1U-89/13 dt 16.01.14, 66-Edn (U)/1U-89/13 dt 16.01.14 and 67-Edn (U)/1U-89/13 dt 16.01.14.

According to the Act to avail the reservation the candidates belonging to SC and ST category have to secure 75 % marks / merit index (whichever is applicable) of the last general candidate admitted.

According to the Act to avail the reservation the candidates belonging to OBC-A and OBC-B category have to secure 90 % marks/ merit index (whichever is applicable) of the last general candidate admitted.

According to clause 6(d) of Government Notification No. 07-Edn (U)/1U-89/13 dt. 02-01-2014, seats reserved for SC candidates and remaining unfilled after following the norms stated above, may be filled by ST candidates who have secured the marks/ merit index as mentioned above and vice versa.

According to clause 6(d) of Government Notification No. 07-Edn (U)/1U-89/13 dt 02-01-2014, seats reserved for OBC-A candidates and remaining unfilled after following the norms stated above, may be filled by OBC-B candidates who have secured the marks / merit index as mentioned above and vice versa.

If any reserved seat under any category remain vacant after following the above norms and procedures in accordance with the Act, Notification and rules laid by Government of West Bengal time to time, the college authority will apply to the competent authority for de-reservation, which can be exercised after receiving permission for the same.
