Ph.D. Admission Notification 2015-2016
Applications in prescribed form are invited through online only for admission to Ph.D. Programme under University Research Scholar / In-Service / Project or Research Fellow / Self Supporting / Collaborative Research category in the following disciplines for the session 2015-2016. The candidate must satisfy one of the qualifications as indicated against the relevant disciplines to which admission is sought in Ph.D. Programme which has been given in Annexure-I.

Essential Qualification
- The Entrance Test for admission to Ph. D. degree course in a discipline of Agriculture, Horticulture & Forestry for University Research Scholar, In-service, Self Supporting, Collaborative Research and Project Fellow of session 2015-16 will be held on 18.08.2015.
- The candidates of In-Service and Project fellow categories shall have to apply online and have to be sent the printed application form with proper documents through proper channel only. The number of seats for Self Supporting category are mentioned below under both the Faculties. The candidate under Collaborative Research category shall have to apply observing following guidelines mentioned in Annexure-II. The Self-Supporting and Collaborative Research candidates will be finally admitted after approval of their study programme in the Academic Council of the University.
- Consistently good academic records with Master’s Degree in Agriculture /Horticulture / Forestry Science having at least 7.00 OGPA (6.5 OGPA for SC, ST and PWD candidates) from any recognized Indian/Foreign University followed by Bachelors’ Degree in Agricultural / Horticultural / Forestry Science under 10+2+4 or 10+1+4 or 11+4.
- Experience of Dissertation in University / Institute for at least one year.
- Minimum age for admission is 23 years as on 01.01.2015.
- Interested Research Associates under different projects that are being implemented at the University may apply online on selection the prescribed option.
- No application forms will be issued form University counter. Online link for submission of admission form will be available at University website www.ubkv.ac.in from 15.07.2015. Application form has to submit online only on payment of Rs. 300.00 (Rupees three hundred) only for general & OBC-A & OBC-B categories and Rs. 75.00 (Rupees seventy five) only for SC / ST categories with service charge through online or offline mode as non refundable. Only PWD candidates who’s disability percentage are 40% or above, will be treated as exempted candidates and no fees will be required. Otherwise PWD candidates will be treated as General Category.
- Last date for distribution and submission of application forms is 05.08.2015 upto 23:59 hrs.
- Date of publication of eligible candidates for Entrance Test on the office notice board and above website on 11.08.2015.

Date of Entrance Test - 18.08.2015 (Details of Entrance Test are available in Annexure-II)
I) All disciplines of Agriculture and Plantation Crops and Processing - from 10:30 A.M. to 12:00 Noon, II) Vegetable & Spice Crops and Pomology and Forestry 2:30 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. - Date of publication of merit list on the office notice board and above website on 20.08.2015.
- Date of the counseling and admission 25.08.2015. The candidates shall have to appear before 2:00 P.M. on the date of counseling.
- Classes will commence on and from 26.08.2015. Envelope containing application form (ONLY FOR In-Service and Project fellow category applicants) should super scribed as "Application Form for admission to Ph.D. programme under In-Service / Project fellow category, 2015-16." to be reached to the office of the Deputy Registrar, Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya, P.O.- Pundibari, Dist.- Coochbehar, West Bengal – 736165 on or before the last date positively. Application form received after due date will not be considered (Only for In-Service and Project fellow categories applicants).

The University reserves the right not to admit any candidates if so decided by admission committee.
N.B. : No admission form will have to be sent to University except In-Service and Project fellow categories applicants.
- Students admitted under URS / Self supporting / Any other category other than resident of West Bengal will not get any state aided scholarship.
- SC/ST/OBC Candidates of outside West Bengal will be treated as General category.

Annexure – II
- The Entrance Test for admission to Ph.D. degree course in a discipline of Agriculture / Horticulture / Forestry for University Research Scholar, In-service, Self Supporting, Collaborative Research and Project Fellow of session 2015-16 will be held on 18.08.2015 from 10:30 A.M. onward as per ICAR syllabus of concerned M.Sc. Courses.

The composition of question paper will be as follows -
Duration of the Test 1 hours 30 minuets; Total marks – 100 Questions 15 questions of 2 marks = 30 marks; 2 questions of 5 marks = 10 marks; MCQ type 60 questions of four alternatives each of 1 marks ( 60x1=60 ). Negative marks for MCQ is 0.5 for each wrong answer. Qualifying marks of the Entrance Test 35 % for General & OBC-A& OBC-B categories and 30% for SC,ST & PWD categories of the Test.
Annexure – III
The following documents / papers are to be submitted along with application form for Collaborative Research Candidates for admission to Ph.D. Programme -
- A declaration form the collaborating institute stating that this University will have no financial involvement for such Collaborative Research work.
- A declaration stating that the student shall stay a minimum of semesters starting from his / her date of registration in this University.
- A certificate to be submitted by the competent authority of Collaborative Institute specifying that the research work has been conducted in the Institute, shall have to be submitted to the BRS of this University by the Chairman of the concerned student before submission of his / her thesis.
- The proposal of name of Co-Chairman of the collaborating institute and Chairman of this University to be forwarded.
- Information regarding the plan of research work proposed to be conducted in the collaborating institute along with the time schedule and duration that may require for the work to be completed therein, name and major activities of the collaborating institute etc.
- Failing to submission of any document mentioned above, the candidature may be cancelled. However, the collaborative research candidates will be finally admitted after approval of their study programme in the Academic Council.
