10 important points for CAT 2017 : You need to know

The registrations for the Common Admission Test (CAT) have begun today, August 9.

The candidates who are appearing for the exam can follow the 10 important points.

Here's the important points :

1. Conducting body :
This year, the exam will be conducted by the IIM Lucknow.

2. Step to get user Id and password. :

  • Go to the official website - iimcat.ac.in
  • Click on the link, 'Registration for New User'
  • Enter name of candidate, date of birth, email address, country and mobile number
    *Candidate name should be entered exactly as it appears in 10th standard/SSC certificate.(Only Alphabets are allowed)
  • Click on submit
  • The registration ID and password will be generated.

3. Application fee :
All the candidates from the General category need to pay Rs 1800
candidates from SC/ST/PwD category need to pay Rs 900.

4. Sessions :
CAT 2017 shall be conducted in 2 sessions.

5. Time :
The duration of the exam will be of 3 hrs. Candidates will be allotted exactly 1 hrs for answering questions in each section and they cannot switch from one section to another while answering questions in a section.

6. Educational qualification :
In order to apply, candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree with minimum 50%. 45% for SC, ST and PwD categories.

7. Exam date:
The examination, will be conducted on November 26.

8. Scheme of the examination :
The test will have three sections namely :
Section I : Verbal ability and reading comprehension
Section II : Data interpretation and logical reasoning
Section III : Quantitative ability

9. Selection procedure :
The selection of candidates will be done on the basis of Written Ability Test, Group Discussion followed by Personal Interviews (PI) round.

10. Examination cities :
CAT 2017 will be held in around 140 test cities
