ANNEXURE I
GUIDELINES AND ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

• Guidelines :
  • The facility for change of stream/branch will be available only to students admitted in the 1st year of the 4-Year B.Tech. course of the University of Calcutta in 2016.
  • Maximum number of students permitted to change of branch shall be 25% of the students enrolled in the first year in the respective branch(s), subject to the strength of the class not decreasing below 75% of enrolled students and also not below 50% of intake approved by AICTE. After branch change the intake must not be more than approved AICTE intake including the fee waiver seats.
  • Change of stream/branch will be accorded singly and strictly on the basis of merit list of aspiring students prepared using the marks obtained by the student in the 1st and 2nd semester examinations taken together in the form of YGPA of first year. In case of any tie in the merit list, the relative merit list considering total scores in Theoretical papers on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics will be used as tie breaker.
  • Change in stream/branch to eligible and interested students will be irrespective of his rank (in WBJEEM) at the time of admission in 2016.
  • Eligible students desirous of opting change of stream/branch will be required to apply for the same in prescribed format, to the Office of the Secretary, UCST, University of Calcutta at Technology Campus, JD-2, Sector-III, Salt Lake City, Kolkata-700106 or C.U. Rajabazar Science College Campus, 92, A.P.C. Road, Kolkata – 700009 or C.U. Ballygunge Science College Campus, 35 Ballygunge Circular Road, Kolkata – 700019.
  • For eligible candidates, the chronology of students’ choice as requested in the application will be strictly adhered to. In case all options sought by a student in order of preference get exhausted, the change of branch will not be allotted to him/her.
  • An option once accepted will be final, and can’t be changed later.
• Eligibility :
  • The student must be a bonafide regular student of the University, has completed registration and necessary formalities as stipulated by the University.
  • The student has appeared in and cleared each paper of the 1st and 2nd semester courses.
  • The students with 7 YGPA and having 60% marks in aggregate for Physics-Mathematics-Chemistry combinations in (10+2) level are eligible for Stream change.
