Admission to Ph.D. Programme in Comparative Indian Language and Literature (CILL)
Applications are invited for admission to the Ph.D. programme in the Department of Comparative Indian Language and Literature, University of Calcutta. Eligible candidates having Master’s Degree in Comparative Indian Language and Literature or any other allied literature discipline with specialisation in Comparative Indian Literature/Comparative Literature with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7 – point scale or any other qualification considered equivalent thereto (a relaxation of 5% marks, from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Differently-abled candidates) should apply in the prescribed form downloaded from the University’s official website www.caluniv.ac.in along with an application fee of Rs. 100/- by cash to be submitted at the cash counter through a challan obtainable from the cash counter of the University.

The filled in form along with all testimonials (self-attested) and the money receipt of the application fee are to be submitted from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 P.M. on all working days to the Office of the department of CILL on or before 20th November, 2018.

Total Number of Seats: 3 (Three).
[Scheduled Caste = 1, Unreserved = 2 (As per Government Reservation Policy)]

The eligible candidates are required to appear in Research Eligibility Test (RET) as per the following schedule:
Date of RET: 04/12/2018
Time: 2:00 P.M.
Venue: CILL Classroom
Duration of RET: 2 hrs.
Total Marks of RET: 100
Structure of RET: A) Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), B) Comprehension Test/ Short Notes, C) Essay

The list of successful candidates will be displayed in the notice board of the department. They are required to appear in an interview with a research proposal (not exceeding 1000 words) containing research question, methodology, literature review, bibliography etc. Those candidates who have already passed M.Phil./UGC NET/SET/SLET need not appear for the RET and can directly apply to appear for the interview, provided they fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria as mentioned above. The entire admission process and all other matter related to the PhD Programme in the Department of CILL will be governed by the University of Calcutta, (Regulation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, Ph.D), Regulations 2016.
