Bengali | 3-Year B.A. Honours/Major degree* in the subject or in Comparative Literature from a recognised University with at least 55% marks (49.5% for PD/OBC-A/OBC-B category, 45% for Sports category and 41.25% for SC/ST category) in Honours papers. (In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then he/she will NOT be eligible.) |
Comparative Literature |
Category-I A minimum three-year Bachelors degree* with Honours/Major in Comparative Literature with at least 40% marks, or, a three-year Bachelors degree* with Honours/Major in any literature subject with at least 55% marks (49.50% for PD/Sports/OBC-A/OBC-B category and 41.25% for SC/ST category) in Honours/Major papers. (In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then he/she will NOT be eligible.) Category-II A Bachelors degree* with a minimum of three years of formal instruction with Honours/Major/Specialization in any nonliterature subject in Arts/Science/Commerce stream with at least 55% marks (49.50% for PD/OBC-A/OBC-B/Sports category, 41.25% for SC/ST category) in Honours/Major/Specialization papers or a degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical Science or any other recognised Bachelors degree*, with a minimum of three years of formal instruction. |
Economics | 3-Year B.A./B.Sc Honours degree* or Major in Economics from a recognised University with at least 60% marks (54% for PD/OBC-A/OBC-B category, 50% for Sports category and 45% for SC/ST category) in Honours papers and at least two papers/courses in Mathematics or Mathematical Economics.
(In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then his/her BA Degree will be considered to be equivalent to Major in Economics if he/she had studied course/ papers in Economics for at least 50% of total marks for the BA degree.) |

+ Selection Procedure
For Comparative Literature |
For Category I (those with Honours in any literature subject including Comparative Literature): Selection will be made on the basis of marks secured in the Admission Test. There will be a single paper for Category-I candidates. For Category-II (those with Honours in non-literature subjects in Arts/Science/Commerce or with a degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical or any other recognized Bachelor degree): Selection will be made on the basis of marks secured in the Admission Test. Category-II students will have to appear for two papers in general literature in the Admission Test. |
For Linguistics, Economics, Political Science with International Relations, History, English | Selection will be made solely on the basis of Admission Test in the subject concerned. |
For Philosophy, Bengali and Sanskrit | Selection will be made on the basis of equal weightage on the marks secured in the Honours papers and an Admission Test in the subject. |
For Film Studies | Category-I: Candidates with 3-Year Honours degree or Major in Film Studies (only) having at least 50% marks in honours/major papers will be directly admitted. Category-II: All the eligible candidates other than Category I will be selected on the basis of an Admission Test. |
For Sociology | Selection will be made on the basis of marks obtained in the Honours/Major papers. |
For Education | Category-I: Higher Secondary or equivalent:- % of marks x 0.5 B.A (Hons.) in Education :- % of marks x 0.5 Category-II: Higher Secondary or equivalent:- % of marks x 0.5 B.Ed. :- % of marks x 0.5 |
