Undergraduate Admission General Information 2023

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • As per G.O of West Bengal No 354 - Edn(CS)/lOM-95/14 dated 02.06.2023 no physical presence will be required at the Colleges.
  • As per Calcutta University Notification No CSR/04/2023, CSR/05/2023 and CSR/06/2023 dated 23rd June 2023 admission to Semester 1 will be as per NEP guidelines. According to the above mentioned guidelines -
    • A student who has passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent Examination is eligible to seek admission to the 1st Semester of the B.A./B.Sc.(SingleMajor/Multidisciplinary) Course of Studies. Major is equivalent to Honours and Multidisciplinary is equivalent to General course of studies.
    • However, no student shall be allowed to take admission after a lapse of more than 3 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination. (Explanation: The year of admission shall not be taken into account while calculating three years from the year of passing the previous qualifying Examination).
    • A candidate prosecuting a regular course of study for semester wise degree course shall have to clear all semesters in all respect within a span of seven years from the year of admission to the particular course and combination, failing which enrolment of the candidate shall stand cancelled.
      It is mandatory that candidate seeking admission to First Semester must have passed English of not less than 100 marks.
      Students who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Vocational examination conducted by the West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education and Training shall be eligible to seek admission to the B.A. (Multidisciplinary) 1st semester Course of Studies taking the subjects under Humanities Discipline only.
      Students who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Vocational Examination in Business and Commerce conducted by the West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education and Training shall be eligible to seek admission to the first semester of the threeyear B.Com course of studies under this University.
      Aggregate marks shall be calculated by adding the marks in top 4 subjects, in order of marks, secured by candidate.
      Marks in Compulsory Environmental Education / Studies shall not be considered for calculating aggregate marks.
      If Environmental Science of 100 marks is studied as an elective subject it may be taken into consideration while calculating aggregate marks.
Related Subjects in class XII
Education Honours Psychology/ Philosophy / Mathematics / Sociology / Economics / Political Science / History/ Statistics / Physics / Chemistry / Biology shall be treated as related subject.
Accountancy Honours Accountancy, Business Economics including Business Mathematics, Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Financial Accounting, Elements of Cost Accountancy & Auditing, Book Keeping, Commerce, Cost Accountancy & Principle of Management, Commercial Law and preliminaries of Auditing, Costing and Taxation.
Journalism & Mass Communication Honours Bengali / English

SUBJECT COMBINATION IN MAJOR (HONOURS) AND MULTIDISCIPLINARY (GENERAL) COURSE OF STUDIES

  • The choice of subjects in both Honours and General course of studies is as per NEP introduced by University of Calcutta from session 2023 – 2024.
  • A candidate seeking admission to B.A. Multidisciplinary (General) Stream has to study two Core Courses and one Minor Course. Combinations for General Course of study have been done following the pattern of two Core subjects and one Minor subject.
  • A candidate taking up Major (Honours) Course (3/4 years) need to select two Minor subjects along with the desired Major course. Combinations for Major Course of study have been done following the pattern of one Major subject and two Minor subjects.
  • Candidates are requested to go through the combinations very carefully before selecting their desired combination.
  • Candidates will come for verification of documents on the first day of College. At time of verification candidates must bring with them two attested copies (Attestation to be done by Head of the Institution last Attended) of the following documents -
    • Class 10th & Class 12th Admit Card
    • Class XII Mark Sheet
    • EWS/SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/Other Minority Certificates (if any)
    • Original Character Certificate from school last attended.
    • 2-copies of recent passport size photograph. (not attested).
    • Photocopy of AADHAR Card
  • Print out of Admission Form must be brought on day of verification of documents.
  • Admission Form will be available on College Website.
  • Print out of Undertaking of Anti ragging must also be brought on day of verification of documents. Anti ragging declaration will be available on College website.
  • All Original documents have to be produced for verification without which the process of verification will not be completed.
  • If there is any discrepancy in documents during verification the admission of the candidate will get cancelled.

COURSE OF STUDY in B.A. /B.SC. B.COM. MAJOR– candidate opting major course will have to study the following in Semester 1 -

  • 1 Major Paper (major paper is equivalent to honours paper)
  • 1 SEC (Skill Enhancement Course) – specified by University of Calcutta and is part of Major subject syllabus
  • 1 Minor Paper
  • 1 IDC (Inter Disciplinary Course) Paper - subject to be selected from a pool of subjects when candidate comes for physical verification of documents
  • 1 AEC (Ability Enhancement Course) - Compulsory English - specified by University of Calcutta
  • 2 CVAC Common Value Added Course) – ENVS and Constitutional Studies - specified by University of Calcutta

COURSE OF STUDY in B.A. /B.SC. B.COM. MULTIDISCIPLINARY– candidate opting multidisciplinary course will have to study the following in Semester 1 -

  • 2 Core Paper2 (core paper is equivalent to general paper)
  • 2 SEC (Skill Enhancement Course) – specified by University of Calcutta and is part of Core subject syllabus
  • 1 IDC (Inter Disciplinary Course) Paper -subject to be selected from a pool of subjects when candidate comes for physical verification of documents
  • 1 AEC (Ability Enhancement Course) - Compulsory English - specified by University of Calcutta
