Note 1: However, the department decides each year which optional elective may be offered based on the choice, performance and number of the willing students along with the availability of the expert faculty members and allied matters.
Note 2: While Bengali and Philosophy departments offer the choices in 4th semester, Sanskrit and Mathematics departments offer it in 3rd and 4th semesters.
Note 3: Apart from this, all the 5 Post Graduate programmes offer Project Work and/or Field Study and/or Internship at least in one semester.
Note 4: Both M.A. and M.Sc. Programme students must opt for the following courses: Mandatory Extra Credit Corse - Skill Enhance Course (SEC): Value-Oriented Course (Indian Cultural and Spiritual Heritage) : 4 Credits

+ Admission to M.Sc. Course in Applied Chemistry

All applicant students have to appear in a viva voce.
However, if the number of applicant students become large, the Department may conduct a written test of 50 marks for short-listing the students for viva voce.
In such cases students will be informed through the email. In that case the written test will be held on 19 August from 2.30 pm for all applicant students.
If no such email is sent, it will be obvious that all students must appear in viva voce.

Viva Voce will start from 22 August 2022 from 11 am. Depending on the number of eligible students, dates of Viva Voce may go upto 23 and 24 August 2022.
- Final selection will be done only on the basis of the marks secured in the viva voce: 50 marks
- Publication of the Merit List after viva voce: 25 August 2022, at 11.30 pm
- Date of admission of the selected students after viva voce: 29 August 2022, at 11 am.
- Waiting List students will be called on 31 August 2022 at 11 am.
- Students must arrive at the Hostel on 4 September 2022.

+ Admission to M.Sc. in Computer Science and Machine Intelligence

All applicant students have to appear in a written test (Note: syllabus will be available in college website) of 50 marks for short-listing for viva-voce.
The written test will be held on 20 August 2022 from 12.00 noon for all applicant students.
- The merit list of the selected candidates in the written test will be published on 21 August, 2022 at 5.00 pm
- Viva-voce will start on 22 August 2022 from 11.00 am. The dates of viva-voce may go upto
- 23 and 24 August 2022 depending on the number of qualified students of written test.
- Final selection will be done on the basis of total marks (50 + 50 = 100) secured in written test and viva-voce.

Syllabus for admission test:
Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra, Real Analysis (single and several variables), Complex Analysis, Analytical Geometry (two and three dimensions), Metric Space, Numerical Analysis, Differential Equation (Ordinary, Partial), Application of Calculus.
The written test will be held on 20 August 2022 from 12.00 noon for all applicant students.
- The merit list of the selected candidates in the written test will be published on 21 August, 2022 at 5.00 pm
- Selected candidates in the written test have to appear in Viva voce. (50 marks)
