GENERAL INFORMATION AND REQUIREMENT FOR ADMISSION

  • Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary or its equivalent Examination (10+2 level) from any Council or Board recognized by the University of Burdwan in 2019/ 2020/ 2021/2022 best of 5 subjects (with Full marks for each subject being 100) are eligible to apply for admission to the 1st Semester of 1st year B.A. / B.Sc (Honours) courses in 2022-2023 academic session. For courses with 4 subjects only (such as isc) the highest subject marks is calculated twice.
  • Candidates must have their own email-id, mobile number and Bank Account Details with IFSC and MICR Code (either candidate’s own bank account details or bank account details of any member of the family) while applying for admission to the B.A. /B.Sc (Honours) courses.   • As per the undergraduate admission guidelines for the academic session of 2022 - 2023 of The University of Burdwan vide Circular No. R-C/UG-PERM/ADM/1 dated 03.06.2022 in case of calculation aggregate and merit score ENVS as Compulsory Additional will not be considered but if ENVS is Compulsory Elective then marks will be considered for calculation both in aggregate and merit score.
  • The college does not offer any 3-year General DegreeCourse.
  • Following the instruction issued by The University of Burdwan vide Circular No. R-C/UG-PERM/ADM/1 dated 03.06.2022, the minimum criteria for application at UG level (Session 2022-2023) will be:
      AGGREGATE
    FOR ALL OTHER SUBJECTS (EXCEPT SANTALI) 45 %
    SANTALI 40 %
  • Admission will be conducted strictly on the basis of merit list. The subject wise merit list will be prepared on the basis of ‘merit score’ for all categories of students.
    Candidates have to secure at least 50% marks in desired subject (other than Santali) and at least 45% marks in case of Santali in Higher Secondary or its equivalent Examination (10+2 level) while applying for admission to the 1 st Semester of 1 st year B.A. / B.Sc (Honours) courses in this college in 2022-2023 academic session.
    MERIT SCORE= [40% of Aggregate percentage of 10th standard + 60% of Aggregate percentage of 12th standard*] + [Desired subject marks X 2]**
    * The aggregate percentage of the best five subjects will be considered for WBCHSE and CBSE students. In case of students from ISC board (12th standard), if they have five or more subjects then they will submit the marks of best five subjects. If a student from ISC board has only four subjects then he/she will submit the marks of those four subjects along with the marks of that subject where he/she has secured the highest by clicking the ‘OTHER’ option.
    ** For the following Honours subjects, which are not widely taught in most of the schools, marks of the alternative subjects as mentioned will be considered as desired subjects for merit marks calculation:

  • In case the merit scores of two or more students are the same the student who has secured a higher score in the desired subject will be given a higher rank in the merit list. If the marks obtained in the desired subject are also the same for two or more students then the student having higher aggregate percentage in 12th standard will be given higher rank. If tie is still not broken, the student who has a higher score in English (12th standard) will be given a higher rank. If the English score is also the same, the candidate who has a higher aggregate percentage in 10th standard will be given a higher rank.
  • As per The University of Burdwan Admission guidelines (2022-23) vide Circular No. - C/UG-PERM/ADM/1 dated 03.06.2022, students who took admission in our college in B.A/B.Sc (Honours) first semester in 2020 and got registered under the University but did not fill up the University Examination form if they are deserving then following the University admission regulation then they can take new admission (not re-admission) in this college. If a student makes into the merit list of the college and it is within college’s intake capacity then the student will be able to take any B.A/B.Sc (Hons.) course in the first semester. In this case, student may not have to go for new registration. They have to fill up the enrollment form for this and the candidate has to give a self-declaration for providing the reason for such admission. But it is not applicable for those students who took admission in our college in B.A/B.Sc (Honours) first semester prior to2021.
  • Candidates who have both the desired subject and the alternative subject in the Higher Secondary or its equivalent Examination (10+2 level), during merit point calculation whichever is higher will be considered as desired subject. For example if a candidate is interested in studying B.A. Honours in Psychology and has both psychology and English and has scored more in English then during merit point calculation English will be considered as desired subject even when Psychology ispresent.
  • Candidates from Science and Commerce stream at 10+2 level; if they are willing to apply for any Arts subject then they can apply for English, Bengali, Psychology, Sociology and Santali only.
  • As per The University of Burdwan vide Circular No. R-C/UG-PERM/ADM/1 dated 03.06.2022 candidates who have passed in Vocational Engineering and Technology course with pass marks in Mathematics are eligible to apply for Honours Course in Computer Science. However, candidates are likely to get enrollment based on total obtained marks in 10% of the total seats in Computer Science in the college and provided they secure more marks than the General Board candidate standing at the lowest rank in the merit list.
  • Candidates, who are willing to apply for both B.Sc. and B.A. stream, should fill up separate forms by registering them twice.
  • Any candidate who has played at a state level sporting event and has also procured a certificate for the same, the candidate may be considered for admission under sports quota.
  • All admissions are PROVISIONAL until verification and registration of candidate is finalized by The University of Burdwan. Admission of any candidate if found to be in contravention of University regulations and restrictions, or in contraventions of any rule framed by the college authorities, even if detected afterwards, shall be cancelled.
  • Anti-ragging declaration as mandated by the UGC is to be furnished online by every student and her guardian after admission.
  • The candidates are asked not to present themselves at the college for any formality related to the admission procedure. The submission of application form for admission and admission fees will be done through online mode only.
  • The whole admission process will be done maintaining strict COVID-19 protocols/norms, given by the competent authority.

RESERVATION OF SEATS

  • Reservation Policy for admission to three year (six semester) degree courses of studies shall be guided by the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission), Act 2013 and Rules, 2014. Number of Reserved seats for Scheduled Caste (22%), Scheduled Tribe (6%), OBC- A (10%) & OBC-B (7%) are shown against each Honours subject.
  • For the candidates with Disability, 5% of seats are reserved in each Honours subject.
