Merit Index Calculation
For Honours Course
- Merit-list of all Honours subjects will be framed on the basis of aggregate percentage of Best Four marks (Except ENVE) + percentage of subject marks opted for Honours obtained in the H.S (10+2) or equivalent examination.
For General Course
- Merit-list of all General Course will be framed on the basis of aggregate percentage of Best Four marks (Except ENVE) obtained in the H.S (10+2) or equivalent examination.
- Merit List for Computer Science as Core Course subject will be based on aggregate percentage of Best Four marks (Except ENVE) + percentage of marks in Mathematics + percentage of marks in Physics obtained in the H.S (10+2) or equivalent examination.
- Merit List for Geography as Core Course subject will be based on aggregate percentage of Best Four marks (Except ENVE) + percentage of marks in Geography obtained in the H.S (10+2) or equivalent examination.
- Merit List for Education as Core Course subject will be based on aggregate percentage of Best Four marks (Except ENVE) + percentage of marks in Education / Psychology / Philosophy / Mathematics / Sociology / Economics / Political Science / History obtained in the H.S (10+2) or equivalent examination.
- Merit List for Microbiology as Core Course subject will be based on aggregate percentage of Best Four marks (Except ENVE) + percentage of marks in Biology/ Bio- Technology + percentage of marks in Chemistry/ Physics obtained in the H.S (10+2) or equivalent examination.
Note
- The students who have passed Higher Secondary or equivalent Examination 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 are eligible for admission. But their merit index (i.e. percentage of Best Four marks and opted Honours subject marks (for Honours course) and percentage of Best Four marks (for General Course)) will be reduced @ 10 % for each preceding year i.e. 10 % marks will be deducted for the candidates who have passed the said examination in the year 2021, 20 % marks will be deducted for the candidates who have passed the said examination in the year 2020 and 30 % for the candidates of 2019 and so on. According to Calcutta University rules, the candidates who have passed the HS or equivalent examination in the year before 2017 are not eligible for admission.
- The Compartmental or C.C candidates are also eligible for admission through online application. But their total marks will be reduced @ 5 % extra for each year of appearance in the said examination.
