Academic Session: 2022-2023

  • Last Date of online submission of application is 15/09/2022.
  • As per the order of the Govt. of West Bengal there is no application fee. However, there will be Admission Test fees of Rs. 100/- for applicants belongs to SC/ST/PD categories & applicants with annual family income less than Rs. 2,50,000/- and Rs. 200/- for other applicants.
    Last date of submission of online admission test fees is 16/09/2022.
  • The University shall not be liable for any implication (be responsible in any way) in case any of the information submitted by the applicant is found to be erroneous and incorrect. His/her application / counseling / admission may be terminated in such cases.
  • A student whose mark-sheet/grade-card does NOT mention marks obtained, and only shows grades, must submit an equivalent certificate/formula from the concerned University to convert grades to percentage marks at the time of documents verification. Failure to do so will lead to cancellation of her/his application.
    All applicants must have completed results of Bachelor's Degree course from any University/Institute recognized by the UGC at the time of online application.

    Clarification of Honours papers:
    Non CBCS system: Honours/Major papers only
    CBCS system: Core papers and DSE papers only

    + Eligibility Criteria

    3-Year Honours/Major degree in any stream from any University/Institute recognized by the UGC with at least 50% marks (45% for OBC-A/OBC-B category and 40% for SC/ST/PD category) in Honours/Major papers (In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/mentioned in the mark-sheet for the Degree of an applicant, then he/she will NOT be eligible.)

    • For candidates under SC/ST category:
      As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89-SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and 1465BCW/MR67/10 dt.30/04/2010 from the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal unless they can produce Domicile Certificate for residing in West Bengal for at least 10 years issued by the competent authority.
    • For candidates under OBC category:
      The candidates who will be provisionally selected under the OBC-A and OBC-B categories must produce an OBC certificate (the date of issue of the certificate should not be earlier than September 2021) issued by the competent authority that clearly indicates (i) the category (A or B) they belong to; (ii) that they do not belong to creamy layer of the society, at the time of counselling/admission.
      OBC-A and OBC-B candidates of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal, unless they can produce a domicile certificate of 10-year residency issued by competent authority.
    • For Candidates under PD category:
      Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under PD category under RPD Act, 2016.

    + Selection Procedure

    Selection will be made on the basis of a Written Admission Test on General Knowledge, Current Affairs and and communication related subjects.

    Written admission test will be held on 24/09/2022 from 01:00 P.M. to 02:00 P.M. at JU main campus.

    + How to calculate the marks obtained

    For Secondary or equivalent (10th) On the basis of aggregate of all marks obtained
    For Higher Secondary or equivalent (12th) On the basis of:
    1.WBCHSE: Best of 4 subjects excluding marks of Environmental Studies/Environmental Education/Environmental Science (out of 400 marks)
    2.Central Board of Secondary Education: Best of 4 subjects (out of 400 marks)
    3.Council for the Indian School Certificate: Best of 4 subjects (out of 400 marks)
    4.Other Boards:Best of 4 subjects (out of 400 marks)
    For Honours Graduates (Non-CBCS system) Honours/Major papers only
    For Honours Graduates (CBCS system) Core papers and DSE papers only

Focus
Practical classes will be arranged by the department considering the demand of the specific subjects. The students will be informed accordingly about the weightage and number of practical classes during counseling.

Tuition Fees
Rs. 26,200/- (Rs. 13,100/- per year)

Intake: 50 (Free-ship 20% of intake - University norms apply)

Anti-Ragging:
Jadavpur University has accepted in principle that each and every student of the University shall be duty bound during the entire period of studentship with the University to immediately report to the Dean of Students if any ragging is noticed either in University hostel or on University campus.
If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the Authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his explanation is not found satisfactory, the Authority would expel him/her from the University.
