Jadavpur University has originated from National Council of Education established by the doyens of the then Bengal int e lligentsia. Since 1906 the Council had to intensif y its technical education activities through the Bengal Technical Institute later named as the College of Eng ineering & Technology, Bengal functioning as a National University exclusive ly under national control. Government of West Bengal with concurrence of the Government of India enacted legislation to give a statutory recog nition to the National Council under the name of Jadavpur University on the 24th December, 1955. The Faculty of Engineering & Technology of Jadavpur Universit y runs 16 (sixteen) B.E. courses, 3 (three) 5-year B.E. (Evening) Degree courses, 25 (twenty-five) Post Graduate Courses (M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Pharm / Evening M.E. / M.Tech.) and M.C.A. course. All the courses are approved by AICTE. Jadavpur University was declared, along with four other Universities of India, as the University having ‘Potential for Exce llence’. The University has been reaccredited with a CGPA 3.68 on 4 point scale at "A" Grade by NAAC. The University has also applied for NBA accreditation of the Engineering and Technology courses.

+ Eligibility for Sports Quota

• Candidates must pass Higher Secondary (10+ 2) Examination in Science Stream in regular class mode of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognized Council/Board.
  • Individual pass mark in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
  • Minimum of 45% marks in above subjects taken tog ether as well as pass marks in English with a minimum of 30% in the said qualifying examination.
• The candidates must qualify in the Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE-2022) of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board for admission to Engineering Degree Colleges and must hold General Merit Rank (GMR) up to 30,000 only.
• The applicants in the Sports category shall have to f urnish original and attested copies of the certif icate/s issued by the f ollowing Authorities in support of their part icipation in the relevant tournaments organized in current year and two years pr eceding only.

+ Selection Criteria

Selection Criteria including Sports Qualification Proforma and Procedure of Selecting Students for Admission to Various University Courses at UG Level under Sports Quota for the Session 2022-23:
Criteria for UG Level	a.	Candidate should have represented a state or equivalent in any National Championship (Junior / Senior / Federation Cup) or above conducted under the aegis of respective Federation / Association recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports / Indian Olympic Association OR
	b.	Candidate should have represented state in National School Competition conducted by School Games Federation of India (SGFI) OR
	c.	Candidate having position 1st/2nd/3rd for individual event / sports or member of Champion/Runners up team for team event/sports/games in Inter-Dist/State Championship (open) or above conducted under the aegis of respective Federation/ Association recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports / Indian Olympic Association in the sports and games offered by the A.I.U, with percentage of marks / JEE rank as fixed by the concerned faculty at qualifying examination is eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota in the UG-1 course including B.Ed., B.P.Ed., B.Lib. course of the university
	d.	For Chess, applicant having the FIDE rating (standard) 1700 and above for Boys and FIDE rating (standard) 1300 and above for girls is eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota. For Tennis, applicant having the AITA ranking up to 300 for under 18 years boys/girls or ranking up to 500 for open (Men/Women) category is eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota. The FIDE rating/AITA ranking for chess & tennis respectively is applicable either on the day/week of publication of advertisement or any update from 01.01.2021 for admission under sports quota. For Cricket & Football, applicant must have represented any 1st Division Club or above with participation of 20% matches or represented any 2nd Division Club or above with participation of 40% matches either in the current year or any one of the three preceding years organized by either CAB / IFA or any State Association OR having the criteria as specified in a) / b) / c) for UG Level.
NB:
• Such sports representations at UG are to be made within current year or any one of the three preceding calendar years (i,e commencing from 1st January, 2019) only.
• The application form for admission under sports quota is to be submitted along with attested photo copies of relevant sports certificates issued by the competent authority of the sports bodies including the sports qualifications in the prescribed proforma as given in Annexure-A and Annexure–B for Cricket & Annexure-C for Football (for representing 1st / 2nd Division Club) duly filled in with official authentication & signed by the respective issuing authority.
• 2% of the total intake capacity of the concerned faculty separately at UG-1 level will be the maximum intake of the admission of students under sports quota.
• All the submitted documents related to sports of the aspiring candidates for admission under sports quota are to be placed at the Sports Board meeting to recommend the name/s of the eligible candidate/s to the concerned secretary of the faculty for admission.

The candidates having WBJEE-2022 GMR up to 30,000 are advised to submit offline application form available in the Jadavpur University website www.jaduniv.edu.in for admission under Sports Quota of Jadavpur University along with all req uisite certif icates including Sports part icipat ion certif icates, as stated above.

Applicants must submit the properly filled in application form along with self-attested signed copies of all relevant certificates (sports & others) in prescribed format by person or speed post to the office of the Secretary, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, 3rd Floor of the TEQIP Building, Jadavpur University, Kolkata 700032 on or before 11.11.2022 positively. The university shall not be responsible for any postal delay.

The name of the provisionally selected candidates will be announced in the website along with date of provisional admission in the University website on 16.11.2022 (tentatively). Date of online admission under Sports Quota will be on & from 21.11.2022 (tentatively).

The candidates will have to produce Original and attested copies the following documents given below at the time of provisional admission:
• Rank Card issued by WBJEEB-2022.
• Admit Card of WBJEEB-2022.
• Admit Card and Marksheet of Madhyamik & H.S. examinations or equivalent.
• SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PWD Certificate in the name of the student issued by the authentic authority of Govt. of West Bengal, if applicable.
• Family Income Certificate of Parent/Gurdian from the authentic authority.
• 5 (five) copies passport size photograph.
• All Sports participation Certificate from the competent authority.
• Medical Certificate – General health and Eye.

Candidates for all U.G. Engg./Tech./Pharm. courses (except Information Technology) will have to deposit Rs. 5210/- off-line for Tuition Fees and other charges for the session 2022-23 & 2023-24 (for two years only) at the time off final admission except for the Information Technology Course.

Candidates for Information Technology course will have to deposit Rs. 30,360/- (for the session 2022-23) on-line for Tuition Fee and other charges for the session 2022-23 (one year only) at the time of final admission.

• Application Form will be available from 03.11.2022 to 09.11.2022 in the University website www.jaduniv.edu.in.
• Last date of Submission of Application Form within 11.11.2022 at the Office of the Secretary, Faculty of Engg. & Tech., J.U. The university shall not be responsible for any postal delay.
