Online Application Notice for M.P.Ed Course, 2023-2024

Important Instructions

  • M.P.Ed is a two years (Day) course as approved by NCTE.
  • This is a residential course. Classes will begin at 6.00 a.m. in the morning and continue till evening with a mid-day break.
  • Students are required to reside in the University Hostel. The fees for Educational Tour/ Blazer and other sports clothing/camp/mess charge etc will be notified at the time of admission. The fees are non-refundable. If a student cancels his/her admission, he/she may apply for refund of the fees. The fees will be refunded as per the order no- 209 (29-Edn(U)/1U-32/17) dated 24/7/2017 of State Govt.. However, under no circumstances, the fees will be refunded before the completion of the academic session 2023- 2024.

    Eligibility Criteria For M.P.Ed Course

    Eligibility Criteria

    Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed) or equivalent with at least 50% marks (45% for OBC-A/ OBC-B and 40% for SC/ST/PD).
    Or
    Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Health and Physical Education with at least 50% marks (45% for OBC-A/ OBC-B and 40% for SC/ST/PD).
    • A candidate who has appeared or due to appear in the B.P.Ed Final Year/Semester Examination 2023, within 30th June, 2023 may also apply, provided he/she fulfills the minimum eligibility criteria (as given above) in the earlier parts/semesters (PART I examination or semesters up to the Final semester) together. For such a candidate the latest available marks in B.P.Ed in semester system/ annual system of examination will be considered. Such a candidate, if provisionally selected for admission, shall have to produce a certificate in the prescribed format Click Here that his/her B.P.Ed Final Examination has been completed on or before June 30, 2023, at the time of verification/admission.
    • They have to submit the final mark-sheet of B.P.Ed. course within 29/9/2023.
    • An applicant shall not be considered for admission (even if provisionally selected after the practical & written admission test) if he/she is already enrolled in a regular day course or equivalent in any other University/Institute or in any department of Jadavpur University.
    • Candidates who do not satisfy the eligibility criteria will not be considered for admission, even if he/she is provisionally selected for admission by mistake.
    • All applicants have to be produced admit card, 2 copy photograph and all the original mark-sheets & certificates for verification on the day of admission test.
    • The applicants must produce recent fitness certificate from a registered Medical Practitioner at the time of admission test, otherwise he/she will not be allowed for admission test. Selected candidates will be required to submit another fitness certificate issued by a registered medical practitioner at the time of reporting on the day for the M.P.Ed course.

    For candidates under SC/ST category

    • As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89-SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and 1465–BCW/MR– 67/10 dt.30/04/2010 from the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal unless they can produce Domicile Certificate for residing in West Bengal for at least 10 years issued by the Competent Authority.

    For candidates under OBC-A/OBC-B category

    • The candidates who will be provisionally selected under the OBC- A and OBC- B categories must produce an OBC certificate (the date of issue of the certificate should not be earlier than May 2022) issued by the competent authority that clearly indicates
      (i) the category (A or B) they belong to;
      (ii) that they do not belong to creamy layer of the society, at the time of counselling/ admission.
    • OBC-A and OBC-B candidates of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal, unless they can produce a domicile certificate of 10-year residency issued by competent authority.

    For Candidates under PD category

    • Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under PD category under PWD (Equal Opportunity, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 2016.
    • Jadavpur University has accepted in principle that each and every student of the University shall be duty bound during the entire period of studentship with the University to immediately report to the Dean of Students if any ragging is noticed either in University hostel or on University campus.
    • If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the Authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his explanation is not found satisfactory, the Authority would expel him/her from the University.

    Selection Procedure For M.P.Ed Course

    • A. Practical tests: 25 marks (5x5)
      i. 50mtr. Run,
      ii. Shuttle Run- 4x10 mtr.,
      iii. Standing Broad Jump,
      iv. 600 mtr. Run,
      v. Medicine ball overhead back throw
    • B. Game specialization (any one): 15 marks
      Football,
      Cricket,
      basketball,
      Volleyball,
      Gymnastics,
      Badminton,
      Handball,
      Kho-Kho,
      Kabaddi,
      Netball,
      Yoga
    • C. Written Test: 50 marks (20x0.5+10x2+4x5)
      i. MCQ and brief answer type questions related with Physical
      ii. Education and Sports of B. P. ED. Standard
      iii. Conceptual questions of B. P. Ed. Standard
    • D. Academic Score: 10 marks
      i. Higher Secondary- 05 marks
      ii. Graduate- 05 marks
    • As per notification no- 508-Edn(CS)/10M-20/2015 dated 30/6/2022 by Govt. of WB, the ratio for Home University students and other Universities students is 90:10.
