
Keeping in mind the maxim 'Necessity is the mother of invention' many concerned citizens of Darjeeling, put their minds and heads together and worked shoulder to shoulder to cater to the needs of such students. A proposal was outlined for the establishment of a new college and named 'Ghoom Jorebunglow College' in the year 2004. The college is situated in a beautiful location n its own building comprising 2 acres of land, at the foot of Sinchel mandir and on the way to the famous tourist attraction, the Tiger Hill. The college, situated at an altitude of 7412 meters has a large campus surrounded by the mountains and beautiful green and scenic environment of pine trees, rhododendrons and camellias with Mount Kanchenjunga at the background. The college proudly claims the distinction of being a town Ghoom which boasts of being the second highest railway station in the world, at presently enjoying Heritage Status. An ideal place and atmosphere to quench one's thirst of Higher Education. Presently the college is running Honours in Economics, Education, English, Geography, History, Nepali, Political Science & Sociology and General Degree courses along with Post Graduates Degree through Directorate of Distance Education (NBU) & different Diplomas and Degree through Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), smoothly and successfully and hopes to create a history of its own in the years to come.
