Admission And Procedure of Enrolment

Application for admission and enrolment to any course in the college should be made in the prescribed format available at the college office as per Admission Notification after the publication of results of H. S. / equivalent Examination. Format not properly filled in or furnishing false information will cause the cancellation of the candidature. Applicant must satisfy the criteria set by the Admission Sub-Committee on the basis of the rules of the concerned University. Admission in Honours Course is done strictly on the merit basis subject to the intake limit and Govt. rules of reservation for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PH etc. Direct Admission in General Courses is allowed on first come first serve basis upto availability of seats. Applicants have to enclose the following documents with their filled in application form.

  • Attested Xerox copies of Madhyamik Pariksha Admit Card.
  • Attested Xerox copies of Mark sheet of last two qualifying examinations (i.e. Madhyamik and H.S.).
  • Attested Xerox copies of mark sheet of H.S./equivalent examination.
  • Two copies of recent passport size photograph.
  • Attested Xerox copies of Certificate of reservation for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PH.
  • Candidate seeking admission with break of study for one year / more must be supported by the Attested Xerox copies of certificate from the Pradhan/ B. D. 0./ M. L. A./. M. P. on health or reasonable ground. Permission from University may be required if necessary .

Applicants for admission are advised to select the course of study with combination subject (i.e. subject bunching) with much care and caution as such facility would be permissible once only (with minimum provision) following the University Academic Calendar.

Any admission is provisional and all the furnished documents of an applicant are to be supported by the original documents, to be shown at the time of admission.

  • »  College Library

    Library is the resource Centre of human civilization and culture maintained by public body, an institution or a private individual. At present, the Central Library of Pingla Thana Mahavidyalaya is a storehouse of nearly 24910 books (text, reference, donated and rare). The Library has a Separate Section of journals and magazines with the capacity of preserving 1173 journals and 152 magazines.

  • »  Hostel Accommodation For Boys And Girls

    The college provides hostel accommodation to some needy students in separate hostels meant for boys and girls according to intake capacity. Students interested in hostel accommodation have to apply on a separate application form which will be available from the superintendents of the respective hostels. SC/ ST students are given preference. Merit and distance of residence are important criteria for consideration of accommodation in hostel. Hostel superintendents are in charge of all hostel affairs. Continuance of hostel accommodation facility would depend on conduct and progress of individual students. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited. Any sort of offensive conduct would compel the authority to expel a student any time.

    There is a NCC unit in the college, both for the boys and girls. (under 55 Bengal Bn NCC, Tamluk). Interested students may contact the In charge of NCC unit of the college for enrolment.

  • »  NSS (Not Me But You)

    There are four N. S. S. units and four Programme Officers for four hundred students (NSS volunteers) in the college. The students may contact the Programme Officer/s of the NSS units of the college for their enrolment. To initiate and promote interactions with the society, special camps are organised by the NSS units at different places nearby to arrange seminars, social activities like afforestation, cleaning of the locality, discussing about sanitation, family welfare etc. in the remote villages.

    Our Alma Mater has marched a long way being switched over from the affilition of C.U. to V.U. in 1985 in the last 46 years with the progress in its academic front. Pingla Thana Mahavidyalaya is located in purely a rural setting at Maligram, in the south-east region of Paschim Medinipur and possesses an illustrious history of continuous development since its very inception. The college came into existence on 19th August, 1965 with the sincere effort and patronage of some distinguished educationists and well-wishers of the locality who committed to spread the light of higher education in this remote area. Even the land of the campus of the college was initially donated by the people of adjacent locality and was developed by them with their spontaneous physical labour. The College acquired the privilege of affiliation initially from the University of Calcutta for imparting three year degree courses in Arts and Commerce stream. Subsequently, the college was affiliated to Vidyasagar University, Medinipur in the year 1985. The extension of affiliation in new courses of study in B.A., B.Com. and B.Sc.(Hons. & Gen.) has led the almamater to win the distinction of being one of the few pioneering degree colleges not only in Paschim Medinipur, but also in the national scale after accruing the accreditation grade as ‚ÄúB++‚ÄĚ College in March, 2007. The College is advancing with the effective endeavour to translate its mission and goal as a ‚ÄúModel Rural College.‚ÄĚ
