  • Last Date for online submission of application(s) for B.L.I.Sc, M.L.I.Sc and M.L.I.Sc (Digital Library) courses is 06/09/2022.
  • There is no application fees. However, the last Date of submission of fees for admission test (Rs. 100/- for candidates under SC/ST/PD categories and Rs. 200/- for candidates under other categories) through online is 07/9/2022. After online payment please print the e-receipt for further reference. Online Payment Link.

    + Eligibility Criteria

    10+2+3 Honours Graduate (in any discipline) with 50% marks in Honours subjects (45% for OBC-A/OBC-B category & 40% for SC/ST/PD category) from the University, or any other university, accepted as equivalent thereto by the Statutory Bodies of the University/norms prescribed by the Regulatory Bodies as applicable subject to such conditions as may be prescribed thereof.
    OR
    10+2+3 Pass Graduate with 55% marks in aggregate (49.5% for OBC-A/OBC-B category & 41.25% for SC/ST/PD category) from the University, or any other university, accepted as equivalent thereto by the Statutory Bodies of the University/norms prescribed by the Regulatory Bodies as applicable subject to such conditions as may be prescribed thereof.
    OR
    Bachelor degree in Engineering / Technology / Medical / Law from the University, or any other university, accepted as equivalent thereto by the Statutory Bodies of the University/norms prescribed by the Regulatory Bodies as applicable subject to such conditions as may be prescribed thereof.
    OR
    10+2+3 Graduate (Honours / Pass) from the University, or any other university, plus Certificate in Library Science with 65% marks (58.5% for OBC-A/OBC-B category & 48.75% for SC/ST/PD category) from a recognized body, accepted by the Statutory Bodies of the University/norms prescribed by the Regulatory Bodies as applicable subject to such conditions as may be prescribed thereof.
    • All applicants must have completed results of Bachelor's and/or Masters Degree course or equivalent degree from any University/Institute recognized by the UGC and completed result in Certificate in Library & Information Science at the time of application.
    • Applications with incomplete results shall be rejected. A candidate shall be denied admission (even if he/she is provisionally selected on the basis of information provided by the applicant) if, at the time of verification of results, it is detected by the Faculty Office/Department of Library and Information Science that his/her results are not complete.
    • A student whose mark-sheet/grade-card does NOT mention marks obtained, and only shows grades, must submit an equivalent certificate/formula from the concerned University to convert grades to percentage marks at the time of documents verification. Failure to do so will lead to cancellation of her/his application.
    • For candidates under SC/ST category:
      As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89-SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and 1465–BCW/MR–67/10 dt.30/04/2010 from the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal unless they can produce Domicile Certificate for residing in West Bengal for at least 10 years issued by the competent authority.
    • For candidates under OBC-A/B category:
      The candidates who will be provisionally selected under the OBC-A and OBC-B categories must produce an OBC certificate (the date of issue of the certificate should not be earlier than August 2021) issued by the competent authority that clearly indicates (i) the category (A or B) they belong to; (ii) that they do not belong to creamy layer of the society, at the time of counselling/ admission.
      OBC-A and OBC-B candidates of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal, unless they can produce a domicile certificate of 10-year residency issued by competent authority.
    • For Candidates under PD category:
      Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under PD quota under RPD Act, 2016.
    • Jadavpur University has accepted in principle that each and every student of the University shall be duty bound during the entire period of studentship with the University to immediately report to the Dean of Students if any ragging is noticed either in University hostel or on University campus.
    • If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the Authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his explanation is not found satisfactory, the Authority would expel him/her from the University.

    + Selection Procedure

    Selection will be made on the basis of a Written Admission Test.
    Syllabus and Pattern of the Entrance Examination:
    The Entrance Examination paper will be of an objective type consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions. The paper will carry 100 marks and will be of 11/2 hours duration. The standard of the paper will be of the level of knowledge as expected of a graduate of any faculty of a recognized University. There will be no negative marking. The paper will include questions covering the following fields of knowledge:

    History & Geography 15
    Indian Polity, Economy and Culture 15
    Current events of National & International Importance 10
    General Mental Ability 10
    N.B.: Candidates are advised to follow the pattern of questions of IAS / WBCS Preliminary Examination.

    + How to calculate the marks obtained

    For Secondary or equivalent On the basis of aggregate of all marks obtained in class 10th board examination.
    For Higher Secondary or equivalent On the basis of:
    • WBCHSE: Best of 4 subjects excluding marks of Environmental Studies/Environmental Education/Environmental Science (out of 400 marks)
    • Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE): Best of 4 subjects (out of 400 marks)
    • Council for the Indian School Certificate (CISC): Best of 4 subjects (out of 400 marks)
    • Other Boards: Best of 4 subjects (out of 400 marks)
    For Honours Graduates (Non-CBCS system) On the basis of aggregate of all marks obtained in Honours papers only
    For Honours Graduates (CBCS system) On the basis of aggregate of all marks obtained in Core & DSE paper only
    For Pass Graduates On the basis of aggregate of all marks obtained
    For Engineering/ Technology/ Medical/ Law On the basis of aggregate of all marks obtained
    For Certificate Course On the basis of aggregate of all marks obtained
