Born in 1962 on August 3, the VMA has its humble origin in a remote village named Rampur, in the Midnapur District of west Bengal, India. Here it was established at the site of a crematorium, and was destined to become a temple
of learning, culture and support for the underprivileged.It set out to provide quality education, training, health facilities and rehabilitation for the downtrodden, reaching out across global frontiers irrespective of caste, creed and nationality.
With its multi – dimensional activities, especially in eye health care, it has helped to restore the sight of the visually impaired and has also undertaken to conduct rehabilitation programs.
The Vivekananda Mission Asram is a non-commercial, non-profit making, non-government premier philanthropic organization, recognized and aided both by Government of India and West Bengal,and notified as an institution of national importance.It is a manifestation of Vivekananda’s belief that in order to serve God, one has to first serve Man.
